It's behind you!

While adapting the old 'Trail of the Lonesome Slime' CoC scenario for my group (resetting it in 1919 as opposed to 1982) I realised that the models I've got to represent Shoggoths really wouldn't do
(they're enormous in CoC), so, gripped by a sudden and irrational enthusiasm I thought I'd make one.
The construction is fairly simple, a series of balsa slices to make up a frame, covered in papier-mache and given a skin of air-drying clay. There's a fair bit left to do & I'll probably add some tentacles before it's finished. Hopefully it'll put the wind up the party when it appears

Most excellent!! Looking forward to seeing it painted and set on a band of hapless adventurers. Are you planning a trail of bones to put in it's wake as it slowly edges over the prone, terrified goodie-goodies?

If everybody had a surfboard
And an Elder Sign,
We could all go shoggie surfing
In the land of rime.
We could bowl down all those penguins,
And a camp or two.
We should all go shoggie surfing,
Tekeli-li to you!

Many thanks for the kind words, I hope to move it along a bit this weekend & have it finised by next week.
MHoxie - fantastic bit of cod Beach Boys!
Dezmond - I'd forgotten about the Fenris one, I'm not sure it's on their site any more - I think it's made to order. By all means feel free to nick my method, it's probably the easiest way to make something that size & it's also pretty quick (you'll probably spend more time waiting for things to dry - glue, paper mache & air dry clay than actually modelling - I used standard cheap Das by the way - just roll it out to a couple of mm thick & drape over the frame like icing a cake - you can then wet your fingers & smooth it round the armature. I taped a bunch of old brushes together to make the stippling - using the handle ends, & some finer stippling with an old stiff bristle brush. The eyes are just balls of dried Das pressed into the skin, which is raised up around them a bit).
Sterling Moose - funny you should say that, a clue in the original scenario is slime full of penguin bone fragments - I had thought of a pool of slime full of disarticulated skeletons might be fun (probably just use pva tinted with a little ink).

Wow. How did you do the texture and bubbles / eyes?
Even without the tentacles, it looks like a big wave of doom.

Cheers ced1106, the eyes are just various sized balls of the air-dry clay - made the day before putting the skin on so they were hard enough to just press into it. You could just as easily use an assortment of beads or ball bearings if you've got them.

That is really cool.
You definitely need a tentacle or three whipping about.
