Looking good mate. I see you've gone for the faded colours to start with, it's certainly working. I'm contemplating painting them normal colours, then putting some sort of filter over or dry brushing, don't know, I'll probably copy you anyway.

It's become a fine line between very thin paint and no pigment at all..!

The other five just have a their base coat of German Cam. Beige, was thinking of maybe taking them lighter/ brighter with Dark Sand, then the camo pattern to see what the difference looks like...

Well, it does help to have something cool to chuck paint at..!

Got a bit more done, not so sure I like the half n half with the tiger stripe, may redo as all ERDL...

Looking good mate. Just had a look through my books, there's a lot of photos of 5 man patrols either pre or post patrols, most are wearing ERDL, occasionally there's one or two men in Tigers but it's always a set, trousers and shirt. There's also, very rarely, one in greens among them. Might be of some use to you, a mix on a man does look odd. It's a bit like us, DPM smock with desert trousers is fine, desert shirt with DPM trousers is just weird and for freaks lol

Yeah, this is why its so helpful to get other opinions. The Tiger Stripe trousers are going.
I've got another set of the figures coming (some will fall victim to the razor saw...), so I'll probably redo those two then, the one with the Tiger Stripe shirt might stay as he is, for the moment anyway. I'll leave the beret and bush hat as Tiger Stripe.

I have tried it before on some of the SEAL conversions and thought those looked alright, but on these I'm just not liking the look.

SEALS

Here's a picture of a chap sporting the two tone look, probably where the idea came from in the first place.

ARVN are up to the tiny badges stage, I'll post some pictures once done.

Thanks guys.

Here's the SAS so far, need to do the bases with something jungly.
The two with the Tiger Stripe trousers need a bit of a do over on the trous.

Looking at them on screen I think I should add some more green to the camo

That's the problem with judging them on screen, it's the colours in the hand that matter. Those modern Aussies I put on a couple of days ago look dog toffee on screen, but fine in real life.

Now I'm becoming inspired to read up on their Nam jungle exploits! Any recommendations?

'SAS Phantoms of the Jungle: A History of the Australian Special Air Service' by D.M. Horner, is a pretty good starting point
