Actually before these I was thinking of starting an 11th century  eastern roman set. I have a cataphract almost ready, just missing a head. 

I would love to see it. If it is almost finished maybe you can get it cast too? Hopefully you will sell them soon?

Im completely new in this endeavor so im trying to move as fast as possible while learning. I was thinking about making at least five hoplite minis, that could be used as officers or hero characters. Then add in some variant heads with historical looking helmets and crests. My aim is to create something I personally would like to buy. Im using museum exhibits and pottery databases as main reference material. I hope that i will be ready till November. Fingers crossed.
I dont know what would be the best route, direct sale or an indiegogo campaign. Some feedback would be very welcome.

Maybe you should contact Andy Hobday from Footsore miniatures. To me, it seems that your hoplites are a perfect fit for their range. As a freelancer, which will take all the extra stuff as casting, selling, packaging, customer engagement / problems etc out of your hands. So you can sculpt and make a little bit of money while doing it.

To me that seems the best way to go, otherwise you will be swamped by a lot of work that has nothing to do with sculpting.

I sculpted four more heads and im in the process of adding hair, helmets etc.

This one will have no helmet on. Once i mount it on the mini im going to add the longer hair in the back. This is a hairstyle very popular from late archaic till the early classical age judging from the pottery.

This one has the classical bun, sorta like the samurai one. Its a double tied ponytail that makes long hair more manageable and also works as a neck cushion when the warrior wears his helmet. Later when long hair went out of fashion, men used to tie an actual cushion to the back of their head with their headband
