Army of Fomorians

AN ARMY OF FOMORIANS

Many years ago I bought the first Alternative Armies Celtic Myth miniatures from Karl Tebbutt at Another World in Nottingham. Inspired by Slaine in 2000 AD, the Fomorians were always my favourites. Although they are a race of giants in Irish mythology with links to the sea, in Slaine they were full-blown ‘sea demons’ and this was the look that was captured by the Alternative Armies range.

As well as the AA models, I collected all kinds of other miniatures which I felt would fit in with the general Fomorian aesthetic.  Many of these sat in a box in the loft until this year when I resolved to get them all painted up and based as an army.

So here they are: fishy and fierce! They’ll be having their first public outing on September 1st when we’re planning to run a ‘Battle of Moy Tura ‘ game at the Hereward show in Peterborough.

The painted background in the close ups is a download from Jon Hodgson:

He's a 2000AD character:

Lovely army. The character second from bottom is excellent

Great army! Nice to see the old Citadel bugbear and Runequest troll in there, along with those great Ral Partha trolls.

Thank you! I bought a lot of second hand stuff from
Fraser at POP Enterprises during the 90s, so many of the old school figures came from him.  I just picked anything I fancied would fit into the army, really.
