Building a 2mm Land Ironclads army
« on: July 03, 2009, 08:33:04 PM »
Hello all,
The last of my Brigade orders arrived today, so I've finally started with my latest project; a smallish French army for Wessex games' Land Ironclads rules. The whole thing *should* only take a few days (but please don't quote me on that).

Firstly, all the bits and pieces laid out;

90 bases of various sizes & 4 land Ironclads from Brigade Models, and the French FPW army pack from Irregular Miniatures.

Three-and-a-half hours later;

From left to right: 2 infantry battalions, 6 supply and command bases (top) & 2 cavalry squadrons (bottom), 4 Land Ironclads (top) & 4 artillery batteries (bottom), 3 contraption bases.

Quality of the figures is good, although the infantry and cavalry blocks had a fair bit of flash on their bases, which took a lot of filing (and blood. My fingers are full of tiny holes).
Hopefully more photos tomorrow.
Any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
I told you so. You damned fools.

Everything is undercoated (in white!), and the infantry have their main colours on (this took longer than you'd think);

Starts to look nice. did you already plan how you are going to finish of the bases? I guess it's not an artic army ;)
Why aim for gold if you can get lead?

Thanks. I'm going to do the bases plain green, and then add bits of flock, sand etc. I think. Or maybe just green. I'll worry about it later, anyway...

Lancers;

Command bases;

And supply;

2mm figures are really easy to paint, and many have a surprising amount of detail.

Edit - Before I forget, here's a great site on all things tiny, which has inspired me much;

I think this chap can safely claim that he has more ECW troops than you...

Also, 100+ views! Someone does care!

The horse is based. Terrible picture I'm afraid, it looks marginally better in the flesh. Now I look at it, it needs a bit of touching up...
