Wow, beautiful paint jobs on those! I like the movement tray - definitely looks better having them point their crossbows toward the enemy, rather than off at a 45 degree angle!

Yeah, it's funny how that worked out... I originally planned to put them on the bases forward as well, but then I realized I wanted to be able to experience that old-school angled vibe again... those were the days when figures would rank up only if they were angled at 45 degrees :) So this way I can have it both ways with the angled-bases with forward-shooting...

Battle Masters is a great game with its card activation too... really enjoying it.

Thanks

Thread necromancy!

Yes, I'm still working on this bloody project, just finished up some more of the foot troops from the Empire army, and I'm still really loving these figs. They are some of my all-time favourite figures to be honest. They are simple, not the highly-detailed complexity of newer Age of Sigmar models, and I really like it.

First is the final unit of Halberdiers, now I have a total of three and they're ready for battle!

Second is the first unit of archers, the other unit is currently half painted and in progress. I really like these figs too.

I also really enjoyed building the detail on the regiment bases for the game. I used it to keep the archers facing forward, even tho they are angled on their 20mm bases...

More updates soon!
thanks

Awesome! Those are beautifully painted, as always. I agree about the attraction of working on relatively simple figures- I find it relaxing and then I’m more enthused about the change of pace a complex leader figure brings. I’m looking forward to seeing the future models and units for this project!

Thanks Pattus Magnus!

It's funny about the simple figures eh? I mean, it took me literally years to go from start to finish with my Empire general figure just because it was so detailed and I couldn't decide if I should go metallics or non-metallics or yellow or green... Just taking a break, doing some nicely realistic archers all in perfect formation was like a palette cleanse!

Thanks for the feedback!

It's threads like these that made me go and source a copy of Battlemasters myself some years ago.

As these things go, I have yet to get started on it, but seeing more of your great work on these simple but lovely miniatures is bound to rekindle that candle again.

Lovely paintjobs; I especially like the subtle differences you manage to sneak in during painting, while still retaining the uniformity of the units. The different skin- and bow colours in the last unit is a prime example of that :)

Please keep it up!
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Very nice work!

Battle Masters is where it all started for me, back in 1992, when I was eight. I'm happy to see it still getting some love over three decades later.

You really do a great job. The Battlemasters cannon crew also are a great base for conversion to command figures. I gave a sword to the bearded one to make him a champion and the other one could be a good standard bearer.

After reading this I just realized the two halberdiers in the back rank were completely covered in the picture above, haha. Here's a shot of them lined up:

That's so awesome. I was a little bit older than that when I picked up the game... :)

Good times!

Neldoreth,

I am sorry to report that all the pictures posted here show as broken links for me.  When I go to your home site (GOAT Mini BLOG) I can see everything fine.

What can be causing this.  Sorry to shade the thread.

It's actually the same for me; I have to right-click on each picture and open it in a separate tab to see anything.

Thanks people for the info!

It appears that is happening because the modern browsers are blocking the pictures from my site because my site doesn't have an SSL certificate... I guess I'll go finally install one on my site after twenty years of running it?!? Haha.

Thanks agian,
