15mm Sci-Fi New Crew Painted (10/1/2020)
« on: November 22, 2019, 03:17:41 AM »
Thanks to CookandrewB to whom I am giving full credit to my inspiration of building of this project thus far. Its a small ship to which I have much hope of many adventures aboard. One thing I have learn thus far is not to get carried away with the details, had I not gone overboard with them I may have been done with this one by this weekend, looks like I'll have it done next weekend for sure.

But let's have a peek at what I have done so far shall we

Here is the ship over all.

Here I have a few 15mm figures in the ship for scale.

Here I have a shot looking up thru a section looking up to the bridge.

As you can see has to how I got carried away with the details by adding all those little panels and I'm not even done yet  ;D
I also have addition wing section to add as well.

Thanks for looking and Thank You CookandrewB for your inspiration!

There is more to come and yes there will be more ships in the sky coming!

Ha ha ha, yes. You took my concept to the next level with that. Very well done, Monkey. It looks like it falls somewhere between my dropship size and a larger multi-section ship. 12" x 8" -ish?

One thing I have tried to do is get the basics knocked out, and as I play on a ship over and over I go back and update. I may (perhaps) get to this level of detail over time, but nobody should hold their breath. lol

This should paint up really well, and I can't wait to see what you do next.

Thank You.

Oh yes! I will be updating this one as I go as well, I just found some wire that I like using as electrical conduits, plus somewhere I have some small electronic resistors and diodes to add as well.

I hoping to get to my Green Stuff and Milliput, to work on a couple of things myself right now. My control panel has all done so far with a hole punch and a utility knife, finding my putties would be so much more useful and easier.

Your ship looks great. I really need to do a ship like this myself.

I wanted to do a small ship first and this one is 12 1/2 inches long. I used Foamcore Board for the base, a cereal box "Cheerios" and I had a little thicker cardboard, all the white strips where you see two walls coming together to what ever corner there is. I use white printer paper  to cover the gaps and make for a smoother look in the corners, plus it strengthens the walls as well.

This the concept that I was working from, with some changes;

I wanted a larger crew area/extra storage, a more pronounce small airlock area and a weapons section that looks more like a Gun Tub from a naval ship at the moment.

You can see the view here from top down and compare the two,

More work needs to be done and really hope to have more of it done by the next weekend.

Get her all painted up?

I like this intermediate sized ship, and maybe my next dropship build will be something in this size range. I think this size lends itself to something like an atmosphere capable bulk delivery vehicle. So, if my dropships are like delivery vans this would be more like a Semi truck for larger goods. I could see needing 1-2 of these lol

I have had much time to work on this project this week. I hope to get to some tonight and tomorrow.

Here are a few detail pictures I was able to get to with my camera.

Bridge detail still needs some work.

Airlock section.

This is the weapons turret section what really looks like a Gun Tub on some old naval ship but it will work for my needs, still needs more detail work as well.

Everything needs more work still, my advice is not to get too carried away with the details.  ;D
