VSF Unobtanium Western town: Al Barx - Marxist Preacher

Mr. Barx is the first citizen in my western town placed in the Unobtanium universe. I haven't figured out his whole story yet, but he will problably get a Don Camillo as his nemesis to battle in the dusty streets of the town.

One more miniature to populate my slowly growing western town. A Dixon Gambler. The inspiration is part Mark Twain, part Tom Wolfe.

That's a fairly heavily armed preacher there.

I really like what you have done on the white jacket and trousers. Always liked Dixon stuff but have only ever done some of their samurai. Nice post.

Looking good, I agree with Svennn the white suit is a very nice idea.

Some Dixons are very good, such as the French Colonials and the ones you've painted. Others are "bollocks" TM (description used specially for Malamute  ) as the heads are pumpkins and some of the "creases" in jackets and trousers are so overdone they look like they are made out of thin cotton rather than cloth. Sadly the ACW range is one of the worst for this.

If I can see them at shows etc then I'll be happy to buy them, but I wouldn't order unseen.

Your painted samples are very good indeed -I especially like Mr Barx, who I need to buy. In his white suit, the gambler looks like he would be at home running "La Grange" (which for non-ZZ Top fans, is a house of ill-repute)

If you want the same model as Al Barx be sure to state it before you pay. Dixon is selling the same body with five different heads, (not sure if you even can specify it)? It's the same with the Gambler.

Up till now I have only bought three minautures from Dixon and they have been OK. Though the Gamblers head had a nasty indent where the head/neck was put on the body. Wonder why they don't fix something like that on the prototype?

Well, the Traveller with no Name has been around, and maybe even managed "La Grange".
