However, started on the steamer.

Me most very elegantly confused.  Chopper mean heliochopper-copter.  Chopper also mean chop shop guy cut automobile into many unfortunate pieces.  Chopper also be specially efficient wood cutting tool.  Oh, my aching amygdala.

Ah, my amygdala begins to feel better already!  lol

That looks like a rather old model of The Chopper, and of an 'industrial' strength.  Pretty cool tool to have (have one myself, but a more recent model).  In search of an electronic version - have one but it was cheap in both senses of the word and didn't last long and a bit wonky in its operation.

Hope you get a new blade soon.

@Digits
It might be me digressing, but are those choppers still for sale somewhere?  :o

Bit of a cool tool tip for scenery makers.

Anyhow, sorry for non thread related questions.

I stand corrected, looks like I have the original Chopper I.  Question about the Chopper II, how do you like the work surface below the blade, I think it is a neoprene rubber with a 'hard' surface?  My chopper has a piece of chip board plus I have a cutting sheet of the material (apparently) used in the Chopper II - not used together, though!

I may be getting the NWSL Duplicator now that I did a little exploring on their website: https://nwsl.com  Specific link: https://nwsl.com/collections/duplicutter-ii/products/the-duplicutter-ii

Retirement (hopefully!) beckons around the end of next year and I plan to spend a lot more time with my two hobbies, miniatures and model railroading.  Helpful tool to have around.

Recently ordered this: https://www.harborfreight.com/4-in-mighty-mite-table-saw-with-blade-61608.html?_br_psugg_q=mighty+mite+table+saw  Will report on how I like when I get it - had just as many top line reviews as bottom line reviews with a smattering in between.  Not too expensive so only marginal expectations.  Hope it lasts longer than my other recent purchase from Micro-Mark: https://www.micromark.com/MicroLux-Mini-Miter-Cut-Off-Saw  That didn't last long at all, less than one hundred cuts, maybe less than fifty.  Good thing it was so cheap - though too bad it was so cheap (in the other sense of the word).  Also, it was a bit wonky to operate.

Oh, and Digits, you've inspired me get to work on my own triple canopy jungle, finally able to get to an open hobby shop yesterday and lay in additional supplies.  The world is slowly re-opening around here - but I worry it may get shut down again if the virus spikes which I expect it will.  Hope I am wrong!

Me too!

Very good bit of kit.....despite blade breaking, I have been using this blade for years...all my wild west stuff built with it, and blade still sharp.

The mat under is ok, but you can see repeated use has cut through it over the years, I’m too lazy just to turn it round (it comes out).

I principally use it on wood (balsa, bass, lolly sticks and coffee stirrers) and plsticard.

It comes with two angle set squares, unfortunately I lost one.

Sad that Micromark tools failed that fast.  I have given up on harbor freight for anything other than a one off use tool now.  Their cheap tools are  horrible quality in my experience.  Given how rarely I use tools around the house, their failure rate was spectacularly high.

It is only a single edge razor blade that is easily replaced - I have the same Chopper and went though loads of blades cutting bamboo skewers for my KPW stockades.

Digits, you can replace the angle bit you lost - they sell them without the whole tool.  Just FYI.
