Infinity,Hasselfree,pig iron
« on: July 15, 2009, 07:22:22 AM »
I hope that i'm in the right place to get some imput.I was wondering how hasselfree's adventures and Pig irons stuff would fit with Infinity.I have Adiriana figures now and was looking for some other ranges to go with my side project of a not to distant Civil war as opposing forces ,survivors ,ETC.... was also considering EM-4 and the copplestone stuff any help would be appreciated.I would really like to know if any one has used the hasslefree stuff with Infinity as there are some great looking sculpts in their adventures range.
Thanks

I got only the big guy from hasslefree (Harby?), but got most of the rest in my stash waiting for painting. I'd say the the human sized figs in the Infinity range go pretty well with the rest (but there are various sizes of figs in Infinity). I can take a comparison shot, if you like? Harby is I think, somewhat large for Hasslefee human, but some sort of reference point anyways?

Don't know about Infinity, but I have a few Hasslefree figures and they are all pretty diminutive and delicately detailed (mind you, they are all girls  ;))

On the other hand, I've just got my first batch of excellent Pig Iron rebels and mutants and they are super-chunky and robust, although the look fits the subject matter, so the squatness is no bad thing in this case.

But stylistically I'd say the Hasslefree and Pig Iron figures are totally different. Not natural companions on the tabletop at all. There again, many people are not too bothered about this sort of thing... (Unlike me  ;))

EM-4 and copplestone go well with pig iron. Infinity are a little thin in comparison and hasslefree are lovely but finer if you know what I mean. Although I love pig iron dearly, I think that they are the chunkiest of the ones you've mentioned but none would look really too out of place together.

I have a some figures by each one of those manufacturers.  Hasselfree tend to be a little small but look fine with other figures once based and painted.  Infinity I only have the ninjas.  They are kind of slight so they fit in well.  To me the Pig Iron guys seem a bit small for how they are armed and armored when compared to Copplestone, Infinity and even Hasselfree.  I have not based or oainted any yet though.

Hasselfree figures are awesome though.  Don't let the size turn you off, I'm sure you'll be happy with them if you get them.  Lot of character and just excellent sculpts.

Thanks all for the great info, I am only going to use certain Infinity figures primarily the Veteran Kazaks and the tank hunters they offer the best stylistically for what I am after , as for Hasslefree they are a diffenent go, the snake ERRR.... cobra figure will be leading the band of survivors for sure and the new KJ and Debra will be in the band as well, it does sound like all of the mentioned figures will mix on the board nicely. It is now a decision of what line to purchase for the belligerent U.N. forces they need to be high tec that is why I was thinking of the pig Iron stuff , but I do like the copplestone / EM-4 figures, also for vehicles anyone know where to get some near future cars?.As for the military side will be getting some of the old crow stuff mainly their wheeled apc's.
As I learn how to post some pictures of this and my ultra Moderns to follow this weekend.

Dunno if this is still topical, but I managed to snap a few photos with various minis in them:

I put in a couple of samples of Infinity, Pig Iron and Em4, plust the only sample I have from Hasslefree and Copplestone. I tried to pick average sizes, and not the tallest or shortest in the buch, where possible. As you can see, there is great variation in the Infinity mini sizes, The Kozak on the left is clearly taller than the commando on the righ. I THINK the commandy represents an average Infinity human size, but I don't really know the game background to say for sure.

In the second picture I added some odds and sods unrequested. I am currently putting together some figs for Dark Heresy RPG, and the the Warmachine range contains many figs that are just perfect for it. But I also collect stuff for some other scifi games, hence the motley collection. :D

Infinity is 35 mm tall (well actually 32 mm, but the minis are all crouching or otherwise "in action") which is about 1:50. They fit well with Copplestone minis, the old Grenadier range (now EM4 and Mirliton) or the Preiser 1:50 range (contemporary minis for architects). Reaper minis are bulkier, and Hasslefree minis are a head or two smaller. I never the less use Reaper civillians (Surfer, Children and the Band) as well, as I don't like my civis armed to the teeth.
