Pig Iron helmets on Infinity bodies
« on: October 28, 2011, 06:30:33 PM »
Does anyone have any idea whether the scale of Pig Iron's trooper helmets will look proportionately ok on Infinity infantry bodies?

Thanks Commander.  I was looking at some of the Infinity & GOT minis and thought I might be able to get away with some PI head swaps to make Traveller figs for my latest obsession.  I will probably order some PI heads anyway along with some heavy infantry.  But thanks for the offer!  Awfully kind of you.  :D

And epic fail with Infinity bodies fitting ANY non-Infinity heads!!!  Gaddammit.  I picked up a Prowler from the Nomads range hoping to put a Micro Arts Studios resin Commando head on it for NO Joy.....

In fact, I don't think Corvus Belli should advertise their range as anything but 25mm.  They're waaaay too small in proportionate scale to be called 28mm.  While they will look proper next to my converted traveller marines in battledress, they are just friggin tiny.

I've found ONE head from another manufacturer that fit onto a PanO fusilier (miscast head - rather than wait for a replacement (which would just come with the same head, anyway, and I'm not fond of that head), I snipped it off and subbed a hooded WHFB WE head (it actually is the same scale head).

Haven't found ANY of the PIP heads to fit them though.  Not LI anyway.  Maybe better luck with MI or HI and PIP heads.

Help me out with the abbreviations. What's MI and HI?  And PIP?  Pig Iron Productions?

Yes, PIP is Pig Iron Productions.
LI is L(ight) I(nfantry), HI is naturally enough, HEAVY infantry (and MI the middle ground of Medium infantry).

These helmets MIGHT fit on the HI Infinity figures.

I've only seen them on GW scout bodies and guardsmen, though (the local Infinity crew are even more uptight about conversions than the local Warmachine mob).

I've used the PI heads on everything from Cadian Imperial Guardsmen to Warzone plastics to Star Wars CMG conversions to Mongoose plastic SST infantry conversions. They are fan-flipping-tastic for conversion work and (much like some people contend about bacon) only seem to work magical improvement when put to use. Good stuff!!

Yeah, the PIP heads are great, but the Infinity figs are so friggin small in proportional scale that even heads from other minis in their range don't size right.

It's a pain in my ass.

Here's a nuts idea-what about removing the heads from some GZG true 25mm figs? Some, like the New Israelis and the NSU are well proportioned and might look right with Infinity stuff.

Now THAT's a good idea Hrothgar! I was thinking about sizing Hasslefree & Heresy figs because they are more akin to what I've got from Infinity.  GZG wasn't on my radar. Thanks!
