As I can't show any more pictures of the build , as the first layers of paint are applied I thought I show you how I did my own flocking material for doing the jungle around the heli crash site.
I have a friend who does upholstery and he gave me some offcuts of the spongy material you use for doing seats on sofas etc ( see the first picture). I cut this up and put it in a blender together with some water and blended it ( second picture). I then mixed colors ( ordinary housholdcolors for wall decoration) with PVA and pressed the blended pieces into this so that the stuff soaked the mixture up like a sponge. Spread this out on a newspaper and let dry. ready to go scatter material!

Brilliant idea, though I think you're taking the bit in the rules about refactoring commercially bought items a bit far :)

I don't want to get accused of stealing ideas though ! this foliage idea is from the terrain tutor over on you tube. But I liked it so much that I had to spread the word.
the beautiful thing is that you can use any color so you could do black and grey ones and mix them for smoke or yellow and red ones for flames or even purple ( I am thinking about doing colored smoke for my Vietnam games).

Thank god there was only one helicopter broken . So I used that one. I got an STL file for a 1/100 UH-1C Huey from wargaming 3D, if I remember correctly. I resized it to 1/50 and printed it with a resin 3d printer.

Your resin printer made a gerat job, the model looks like a plastic kit

Thanks, it is an Anycubic Photon and I can't recommend it highly enough. It is quite cheap for a resin printer and is used by many people even for commercial purposes.

Here is another little update. The painting of the model is almost finished I need to apply some decals though as my freehand is not that good. This contest is about building from scratch and as there are no decals for a UH-1C in 1/50 I made my own.
I got some images of google and bought some decal paper (white ) of amazon: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01N6CJF3Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

After resizing the images and printing them on the decal paper I was ready to use them. As I can't show the model here is a picture of the decal sheet:
