Burke's Nurkes - Ogre Mercs
« on: July 17, 2009, 08:27:38 PM »
You may have seen the first few of these on the "what I done this month" threads, but I finished the unit and thought they might like a thread of their own (between you and me, they said they'd burn my house down if I didn't...).

So here we go, group shot first of Burke's Nurkes, Ogre Mercenaries par excellance, currently under retainer to the Mootshire Defence Force as harvest guards, hired muscle and something big to hide behind if anything goes wrong.

From left to right we have Sergeant Grimgit, Flava Borgnine, Captain Burke himself, Young Fess, and finally Big Ted.

Young Fess is relatively new to the gang, and therefore hasn't had the opportunity to "earn his shirts" (the Halflings reward the Ogres with fine clothing for successful actions).

You will note that both Sgt Grimgit and Big Ted sport rather fine black feathers in their hats. This marks them out as having taken part in the Bloody Big Crow Bastard Eating All Farmer Gammage's Seed Campaign of '04.

And to finish, here's  their passport photos:

Hope you like 'em!  :)

Ogres in Landsknecht fashion - so cool!
Also like your little background story. Very inspiring stuff, and I hope to see more soon. :)

Very nice indeed!

These would not look too out of place acting as bodyguards for halflings. Are there any scenarios planned?

Cheers!  :)

Don't be daft, I never play with anything I do. All just for fun. Glad you like them though.

Are they Foundry? For some reason I can't take to their fantasy figures, but you've done a lovely job on the "Landsknechte" (or however you spell the bloody word) dress  ;)

They definitely look like they would be a challenge to paint.

Yes, they are Foundry. Probably the best fantasy figures they do, although the Elves have some nice figures among them. The Dwarfs and Orcs are a bit too... well, fat for my tastes.

Nice work (as usual) JB. I've often wondered what those figures would look like with a more traditional (ie: non-green) flesh treatment, and now I know.

Really great! I have some of those lying around bought at a time when they where till called orcs and always thought of painting them not green. Your choice of flesh tone is really a good one.

That´s a top paintjob! I like the 17th century costumes.
