All looking good. Makes me want to dig out my Hoka hey figures. Must stop
messing about & make a decision, do I go for an Irish, or a Scottish setting?

They do have bags of character. did you see that article written in Wargames Illustrated a few years ago looking at Border Reivers? It included a simple but I have heard very good set of rules that really captured the feel of the period. (I want to say it was written by Chris Peers?)

Nope, I haven't read a wargaming magazine for years. Having said that, I am always interested in a good set of skirmish rules.

If I get a chance I'll try to dig them out. I *think* they might have been published as a free pdf by the author at some point..... if I could remember who is was  ???

Found them!

Hot Trod Border Reiver Rules, R Tyson/G Harrison

Do a google search for the pdf.

They are available here, but I cannot with any degree of certainty say if the site is safe or not(???):

https://vdocuments.mx/hot-trod-red-hand-trod-red-hand-vendel-border-reivers-the-border-reivers.html

Hope that helps?

I must have a look at those.
I was thinking of using Fistful of Lead, as they give a fun, simple, Hollywood feel
to their games. FFofL  also deals well with multi-player games.

Nice set of rules particularly tailored to the period - I hate generic rules.  These are good reiving rules.

Some religious zealots to throng the streets

The last of the Border Reivers, some looting bandits (poor sculpts these)

First of the ECW, some pikes

On the way: ECW muskets and command, more zealots and lots more Landsknechts!

You have inspired me to dust off my Clockwork and Chivalry books and look through my rules for something that will adapt to battles and skirmishes utilizing the Runequest Rules.  Thankyou

Wonderful work on your blog. Shame about those Hoka Hey castings; they look like very nice sculpts.

Sounds good, I was thinking about some skirmish rules of my own now I have a decent amount of miniatures.

Yes, the sculpts are great. I did contact Hoka Hey about the quality and he said he'd replace any that were faulty but that just adds more time to the delay between wanting something and getting it to the table which can prove fatal to a project (in my experience) so I just fix what I can and move on.
The first miniatures I ordered from them a couple of years ago (the mounted and foot Reiver family) were perfect so the quality drop is recent.

I've finished all the ECW now, and some more Landsknechts, there will be pictures sometime over the weekend.

Concern about the age of the moulds and resulting poor quality casting is what has put me off ordering Hoka Hey.  Hobby time is too limited and precious to spend it filing off excessive amounts of flash.  A real shame, as the Hoka Hey sculpts have wonderful character.  So I make do with the old Foundry Swashbucklers, Eureka Portuguese,  and Galloping Major border reivers.
