15mm MORTAL GODS: Spartans completed and some mythic
« on: 01 March 2020, 12:59:13 PM »
Hi guys,
much time since my last post having had my first daughter... :-*
In my little free time I decided to go with an historical skirmish game. I choose Mortal Gods since it's simpler (I'll play mostly with my wife) and needs less minis than CoS (without speaking about the sarissa affair... lol).
I'll do it in 15mm basing the figures on 2 euro cent coins and so I'll built my own movement bases...
I'm going to do all 4 armies (Athenians, Spartans, Thracians and Persians) and the Mythological version, when I'll got my rewards as KS backer (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/footsore/mortal-gods-mythic-by-footsore?ref=nav_search&result=project&term=footsore).
Here some pics of my first warriors...
3 seers, 6 thracian peltasts, 4 archers, 4 slingers and 3 persian archers.

These are a mixture of brands: Chariot, donnington and Xyston. Bought some other Xystons and even if I'm a bit afraid with separated spears in a skirmish game I'll probably go almost totally with them... My first choice would have been Forged in Battle, but the packs are too big (and expensive) and my mail if it was possible to have only partial packs was totally ignored...
Lastly I have to mention new Z range Museum Miniatures: I like them very much and with skirt hoplite (adding a green stuff mantle) I'd like to do 300 style Spartan Hoplites :D

Going on with Thracians: here peltasts, warriors with romphaia, slingers (as leusteres) and the hero Dromichaites...

Thank you very much ;)
Thracians are all Xyston except for peltasts:
the 2 younger are MM:

Other 4 are Donnington Original:

Dromichaites is Xyston from Greek generals with changed shield and added spear.

Here the Lochagos and the musician/lyre player inspired to the thracian hero Orpheus (from a Roman 3rd century AD mosaic).
