Many thanks for your very kind comments. I'm flattered that you think a book would be a good way forward but I'm afraid that it won't be happening anytime soon for two reasons: (i) even if the figures in my collection are good enough (which I doubt), there simply aren't enough of them and I only have figures, while John Ray has extensive terrain in addition to a huge collection of figures; and (ii) I understand that John's book was years in the production and, at the moment, I'm afraid that I simply don't have the time for it - although I'm retired, our 15-year old takes up most of my time and when he eventually goes off to university my wife has extensive travel plans for the pair of us.

Michael: no, I'm afraid I've never got round to giving them names, or even nationalities. All my regiments so far carry flags which were carried by Imperialist Catholic units during the TYW. My plan is to start a Protestant army soon, but I'm not sure what nationality it will be. My original plan was for a Swedish army of the Gustavus era but, as I said earlier, I'm finding it really difficult to source good, accurate Swedish infantry so I'm not sure that will work. I'll probably wait until I have all the Imperialist units I want and then see what is available. Perhaps TAG will have brought out some Dutch of the period by then, in which case I may go down that route.

Sorry to do this. It's a bit cheeky, and a bit of a long-shot. If anyone has a Foundry Napoleon figure they would be prepared to sell, please could they PM me. The figure I'm after is the seated one with his legs up on a drum. I think the figure has real conversion possibilities. I don't mind if he's painted or not but, if he is, I would have to strip the paint. I know I could buy a new one from Foundry, but it comes in a big pack with a lot of other figures, none of which I need, so to buy a new one seems a bit extravagant, even for me.  Many thanks.

Don't apologise Paul- if it leads to more of these beautiful conversions then go for it :)

Paul

These are beautiful, a really unique and special collection.  Brian is the best and so creative, I always enjoyed our telephone chats while he explained his drawings that he would send.  He was very much into TYW, it is an interesting period with some great uniforms, I remember seeing the figures he did for Phil Olley. Don't think I could manage another period at the moment.

But you never know..

What a fantastic unit.  Every figure an individual character.   I greatly envy you.

FYI I asked Foundry whether they would sell me the seated figure of Napoleon separately so that I could have him converted but they said no, on the basis that taking him out of a pack wouldn't be economic for them.

Sadly the days when you could phone Foundry up and buy the odd lot of bits and bobs is now over  :'(

I've tried them a couple of times Paul and they have flatly said no. :(

Agreed. The miniatures in this thread is of such high quality it should be "stickied" IMHO

I've still got all the pictures saved Paul! I just love the naturalistic posture of all of the miniatures.  :)
