Hobilars - Perry's Miniatures 28mm
« on: 18 May 2020, 03:30:23 PM »
As part of lockdown painting work, I have taken the time to complete a few projects for friends which has included putting together some Perry plastic medieval light cavalry.

These figures are really fun to put together and offer lots of options to differentiate one unit to another.

Lovely painting.   :-* :-*  Can I ask what colours you used for the light chestnut horse with the crossbow rider?

Wow.  Painting horses has always been a problem for me and these are wonderful (the riders are snappy, too).   :)

Thanks chaps. The horses are painted with Coat d’Arms horse tones with a wash and then simply highlighted.

They look fantastic and very inspiring work indeed. Did you use any specific references for your colour palette or did you just go with a good historical feel?

Great figures! I am tempted to buy some of these but am worried they might be too small compared to Front Rank.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

figures painted: 57
9 vehicles painted
4 terrain pieces scratchbuilt

Thanks for the comments chaps.
I chose the colours based on the references in and on the Perry box, together with other stuff in my own library such as Osprey etc.

I think Perry’s might look a bit small against Front Rank. Both sculpts are equally classy in their own right but quite different in comparison with each other. I have my own collection of WOTR to work on and I have used the Perry range as a whole mixing in their metals to add variety and completeness to the bulk of the collection which will be their plastics.

Cheers
JJ
