Who makes best quality 15mm range?
« on: 29 May 2020, 01:31:54 PM »
Completely new to WWI
I don’t want to game it in 28mm as I play a LOT of WWII in the larger scale, so I considered 15mm or even 10mm?

Who makes really nice quality figures in these scales, and comprehensive ranges too?
15mm is basically 1/100 scale correct?
My initial thoughts are classic early war European front.

Thanks

Hi, I would echo the view that in 15mm Peter Pig's range is pretty comprehensive, especially if you really want to do early war. You can even buy Belgians! In 10mm Pendraken are hard to beat but of course the detail isn't quite the same, albeit the figures are only about 1/3 of the price.  I've noticed that Plastic Soldier Company sell bags of 150 15mm British or Germans from their "Great War" boardgame. They are late WW1  but amazing value at what seems to be £7.50 per bag.

I'd check out the various websites

Also check out QRF.  They have a rather extensive range - and are in the process of releasing figures for German East Africa (with some hiccups courtesy of the Virus).  Peter Pig will be small figures, Bluemoon will be large figures and the two won't mix well.  QRF will be closer to Peter Pig but might mix with Bluemoon.

Being since a large war, you may want to narrow down a time and a locale to focus on.  I will keep my focus solely on German East Africa for what is my most "modern" collection.  Next closest is the Boxer rebellion.  Well, I do have depression era gangsters but that's a bit different.

Thanks guys,
Lots to check out, and decisions to be made.
I’m just waiting for my my Battlefront WWI rules I’ve got second hand off this forum.
I’m assuming it’s company level gaming, hence the small scale?

If you want WWI western front with helmets, Blue Moon has a fine range of British, French and Germans.

And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

Here's another vote for Peter Pig, though fans of Mike Broadbent will also have the option of checking out the work he's done for Khurasan and Eureka. The latter do Bulgarians and Greeks should you ever want to game the fascinating Salonika front.

I actually like Battlefront (Flames of War) figures for late war (1916 -18) Germans.  I have some Peter Pig, but the Battlefront are better sculpted.

The biggest part of my early war 15mm armies is from Minifigs.
I'm in the process of rebasing them.
I have pictured my 1914 British, Germans, 1/2 my Russians and a Austrian Cavalry division. Then ME British (1917)
Not pictured are my ANZACs or Turks.
All are from Minifigs
