While not a perfect facsimile...I bashed some BM-8-24 rocket launcher vehicles from some Katyusha and T-70 kits.



Basically obsolete T-60 chassis were outfitted with Katyusha style launchers...a bit shorter, and sometimes on a turntable.  These T-70s are incorrect chassis, but close...and the launchers are something I'd argue would have been feasible.

Well, a lot of stuff has been going on for the Soviets.

Two Su-85 tank hunters (Battlefront minis).


A handful of 4Ground cabins assembled, some painted - and ghetto thatch roofs added


Two more Zis-42M halftracks, two M3 White Scout cars, and a third Su-76 (to complete the platoon)


Three more KV-1's (one with a ghetto turret)


Two Zis-42M halftracks and one Zis-5 truck (several more of those on the way!)


Some halftracks with "supply" inserts - I've assembled some other inserts to swap duties between trucks and halftracks (they share the same bed size)


Another insert - this is a kit-bashed crane (no real reference was used...just...bored).  Used for repair/recovery duty.

Lovely work! Although I have to ask what makes just one of the KV-1S turrets 'ghetto'? I understand what you mean with the thatch roofs, but the turrets have me stumped.

I started building one of the three as a KV-1S...then abandoned it mid-build (why it has the S rear and fuel cans) - I had also assembled the S turret...so the KV turret got the wrong gun (and it doesn't technically match the vehicle's other bits).

The Zis are from the Axis and Allies miniatures game.  They did a Zis-5 truck and a Zis-42M halftrack.  They're some of the nicer miniatures from that game.  I picked eBay clean of a bunch of them as they're robust/simple/nicely sculpted.

I grabbed mine for around $4 a pop which is the same as the cheap Zvezda kits - but less work (and Zvezda trucks are reaaaaallly fragile).

I've been churning through stuff lately.

I traded my buddy for his log entrenchments and then repainted them.  Feels more properly Soviet.


Picked up a couple Axis & Allies Su-122s and "prettied" them up slightly so they better match proper 15mm miniatures.


They ended up pretty good - despite the detail being really soft on them.


Testing some new 3mm Sintra roads I made.  My Fat Franks ones from eBay curl a bit more than I like, so I'm messing around with a stiffer solution.  That causes its own problems...but we'll see.  Will play test with my "new" roads for a bit.

Spent the last two days going back and touching up a bunch of vehicles, adding decals and re-doing some colours to match the ones I've settled on.

Also knocked out another five vehicles.

I went back with my last T-34's on hand...and decided to make some specialized units.  An OT-34 (flamethrower version), a T-34 ARV (armour recovery vehicle), and a Forward HQ version (with spare turret to run as a normal tank).
