Model making commission - HMS beagle.

Not really wargame related, But in January I was commissioned to build a model of the HMS beagle for a cruise ship bound for the Galapagos.  The ship was due to sail in march but the pandemic put a stop to those plans, which made my mad rush to get this built a little silly, still it was a fun practice in speed. The kit also left me with mounds of timber and ship fittings that have made it into all my projects since, so if you ever need odd little details for scratchbuilds, model ships are a great resource.














I've taken on large projects before, But never a wooden hulled ship and never in such a short time frame. Overall the finished ship was about 60cm long (roughly 1:60 scale according to the plans.) and now I'm well stocked for miniature timber for the near future.

Beautiful work.

Of course travelling on a cruise ship or shit, if you prefer, is probably the number one way of scoring a Darwin Award in these sneezy times. The price of shuffleboard is death. Personally, I can’t think of anything worse.

Well, not meaning to spoil some fun, but Mammoth, if you use the modify button on your original post you can correct your typo and leave future readers of this thread to wonder what later posters are prattling on about regarding cruise shit!
