15mm Rohirrim
« on: July 08, 2020, 10:17:28 AM »
Having got to a reasonable size with my 15mm Orcs, I won't say finished as you never are with Orcs. I started looking about for opposition. Initially I was going to do Elves and had been eyeing the Peter Pig range. Had a change of heart though and decided on the Rohirrim. I looked at a couple of historical ranges but plumped for Battle Valor Frigians in the end. There was a few reasons for this. One I already have loads of the foot. Secondly they are pleasing Rohan like being basically mounted fantasy vikings. Last but more importantly the local pusher Dragonfrog games is based just down the coast from me.
I contacted Martin who kindly dropped a sample pack of Frigian cavalry off at my house.

A gentle wash for the figures.

Then had a look at the figures. A wee bit of flash on some of the horses but nothing serious.

Battle Valor have small pins on the back of their shields which slot into a hole on the figures arm. These help keep the shield in place. I usually enlarge the hole using a small drill bit and a pin vice.

I've just had a look on their website and yes, I think they are pretty good for Rohirrim.

I really like Battle Valor I have a couple of hundreds orcs that I have just finished.

I did Rohirrim with a pile of Essex Miniatures dark ages cavalry.

Yes I had thought of using Essex historical ranges. But the Battle Valor were a no brainer.

Some more progress.
Finding it hard going but to be fair I am painting these, 28mm Tekumel figures and 15mm samurai Rabbits at the same time.
