Oh - and one more thing: there's a bit of a gap in the market at the moment for generic fantasy 'guardsmen' - an absolute staple of so many RPGs. These look like a great solution to that problem, just as the Frostgrave soldiers provide brigands, bandits and adventurers and the Ghost Archipelago crew meet piratical needs!

I wonder if these started life as Dicheans?

The demon on the left might work as a starting point for Shen, depending on size.

I like these a lot. While I'm all for a certain degree of 'historical' realism, I think there's lots of room for stuff that's more fantastical without being too over the top. It's easy to get compatible full helms from Fireforge and the like (and of course there may be some on the sprue).

I can see lots of opportunities for using these heads (and bodies) in more overtly fantastical settings (Glorantha, Tekumel, etc).

The demons look great. The body with the digitigrade legs would be a tremendous starting point for a kitbashed gnoll leader.

If you want more historical looking Templars/Knights the Fireforge range are pretty good.

They're up for pre-order now, including in some mixed bundles with other boxes or sprues:
http://www.northstarfigures.com/list.php?man=195&cat=717&page=1

Including a picture of the new armoured lads' sprue:

The new sprue is larger than those of other soldiers, more akin to those found in the sets of wizards. 5 bodies per sprue and 2 sprues per box, but with more bits than those found in the other soldier sets (and priced the same as the wizards, so cheaper than the 20-figure sets of soldiers).

That is looking pretty fantastic for kitbashing.

Neat.
I assume that they are more expensive per figure than the soldier boxes.

Yup.

The new box is £15 for 10 figures, whereas the soldier, barbarian, and cultist boxes are £20 for 20 figures (Wizards are £15 for 8 figs).

On a positive note, it looks like there might be more interesting head variants than the ones shown in the photos, and the weapon options look good for kitbashing.

I'll be buying a box anyway, but I'm not as excited for these as the previous releases, the poses look quite static and the box art looks a bit underwhelming. I do wonder if the recent pandemic has impacted the sculpting and design process?

Rats, I came back here to look at the demon renders, and they have evaporated in a whiff of sulphur.

Are they the next set?
