Bring Back the Baby (Continuation of Kidnapping Scenario)

I finally finished the terrain accessories for the game board to play part 2 of my solo scenarios,  Here are some pics of the board setup.  I will likely have the AAR done within the next month or so.  I will be using the SA rules, but will incorporate some stuff from VUK because it is a BIG scenario figure wise.

Finally found time to get back to this.  The scenario is 20 Turns long.

Bring Back the Baby (Scenario Particulars)

Figure Deployment Rules

Lurker

Yellow Team:
These figures deploy outside of the house within the fenced area. Divide the map into 8”’x 8” squares. The squares are numbered from 1-6 based as shown in the diagram.  Roll 1d6 for each figure (except the Leader) and place it outside within the numbered area rolled for it. Figures must be at least 5” apart from each other. No more than 2 figures can deploy into an area. If the area already has 2 figures, re-roll for a new area for the figure. Once all other figures are placed, the Leader figure can be placed in any area that the Lurker player chooses.
 
Red Team:
This team begins in the house. There are 12 room locations for the figures to begin in. Only rooms 2 (Receiving Room),3 (Kitchen) and 12 (Worship  Room)can have more than one figure. Roll a d12 for each figure of the Red Team except Master Snyde who begins either in room 11 (Sanctum Sanctorum) or 12 (Worship Room). (See at start Pics). The baby is located in room 12a.

I will be using the Twisted Fate Cards for this scenario.  Each Team will start with 1 card and draw one during their turn normally.

Scenario Special Rules:

1) Initiative Order:
Police Team, Yellow Cult Team, Threshold Team, Red Cult Team.

2) Police Team:
Their first action for all figures is consumed by the movement of the Police Truck to crash through the front driveway gate.

3) Cultist Response on the First Turn:
At the beginning of each cultist’s first activation a Resolve test is performed using the character’s printed resolve. If the figure is not in Line of sight of the Police vehicle and it fails its resolve test, both its actions must be to move towards the Police vehicle by the shortest route. Otherwise it may perform actions normally. If the figure is in Line of sight of the Police vehicle, perform a roll. On a result of 1-3 the figure is stunned for the turn and does nothing. Otherwise the figure performs their actions normally.

The following morning, Captain Bluefin and Director Farnsworth perform a gruelling interogation of
cultist Joe. They find out that the lair of the cult is located at the Snyde residence which is
located about 2 miles west of the town and that the sacrifice is to be performed at midnight tonight.
Both leaders formulate an attack plan that will happen once the sun is set this evening. The police
team will attack the front of the house to distract the cultists while the Threshold team will sneak
in from the woods behind the house....


Turn 1

Police Team

The police team comes barreling down the road and swerves into the driveway gate, bursting it open.
Captain Bluefin in the front passanger seat jumps out of the vehicle and remains behind the cover of
the vehicle. Blub and Gulp get out of the back and get into cover. Woosh (driver) sees a cultist just ahead and shoots his pistol at him but misses. (See Pic 1)

Cultist Yellow Team:

Arthur yells out "Shoot them you fools" as he moves up and fires at the copper behind the wheel.
He hits twice with his tommygun but they appear to be only grazing wounds of no effect. Jimmie
takes 4 shots with his .22 pistol and only hits with one which also appears to be a grazing hit.
Counstable Woosh thinks to himself "Thank god I am a Tough SOB". Randy comes around from the back of the brown truck to get into a shooting position.  Captain Bluefin spots him moving up and lets lose a burst of Tommygun fire at him, but to no effect. Randy aims and shoots but only grazes the Captain. Minime runs across to the front doors of the house. Both Heinrich and Cory hear the sounds of fighting out front and rush forwards to see what is happening. (See Pic 2)

Threshold Team:

Director Farnsworth watches as the two guards in the back move away to the front of the house. He
then says "OK, lets get that ladder up and save the kid. Gerry, with the wooden ladder) rushes up
and sets up the ladder against the fence. Hank moves up and climbs over the fence (it takes 1 action
for a figure to climb over the fence by the ladder). Gerry moves up into position to steady the
 ladder for the others to quickly climb over. (See Pic 3)

Cultist Red Team:

The sounds of combat outside wake up Brutis and Tattoo. Petrov in the recieving room along with
Leroy in the vestibule rush out through the front doors taking positions behind the hedgerow. Master
Snyde along with Tobias and Rick charge up the stairs from the basement Alter room. With all the
noise and commotion going on, the bady in the prison room in the basement crys in terror at the
top of her tiny voice. (See [pics 4-6)

TURN 2

Police Team

Captain Bluefin shouts out " Lieutenant Blub, you and your men follow me. Keep firing
at the cultists to maintain their attention. At the same time Captain Bluefin lets loose another
burst at the rifle armed cultist. His spray scores a hit right in the cultist's face and the cultist
falls to the ground dead. The captain then moves forward to the back end of the cultist's truck.
Constable Woosh gets out of the truck and follows the Captain. Lieutenant Blub moves up to the front
side of the truck and shoots at the cultist with the tommygun but misses. Constable Nemo gets out
of the truck and moves up with the Luitenant. (See Pic 1)

Yellow Cultist Team

Heinrich hearing the scream of his friend Rick becomes enraged and charges towards where he heard
the scream. He sees the copper and brings his hammer in a sweeping blow that seriously wounds the
Captain Bluefin who falls to the ground unconscious (Out of the game). Arthur lets loose a 2 bursts
of tommygun fire at the lieutenant achieving only a grazing hit. Jimmie beside Arthur takes 4 shots
with his .22 pistol at Constable Nemo and misses with all of them. (See Pic 2)

Threshold Team

Director Farnsworth states "Common boys, lets get to it". Hank moves up to the back door of the house and finds the door locked. He tries to pick the lock (staying quiet) unsuccessfully. Director Farnsworth clumbs over the fence and moves to the side. Larry moves up to the ladder and climbs over. (See Pic 3)

Red Cultist Team   

 Master Snyde states "Tobias, get those sleeping loafs upstairs down here". Tobias rushes upstairs
and yells "Brutis, Tattoo. Get your lazy asses downstairs. Both of them move from their bedrooms
to the bottom of the stairs. Master Snyde moves to the front kitch window to see what is happening
outside. He sees that Heinrich is out front and realizes that the fools have probably left the back
unguarded. He shouts out through the window, "Petrov, get to the back and see what is going on there". Petrov moves towards the back of the house. Petrov moves down to the back between the house and the garage and when he reaches the corner, he spots movement by the back fence. (See Pics 4 & 5)

TURN 3

Police Team

Constable Woosh seeing the Captain go down to the hammer of the cultist steels his resolve and
aims his pistol at the assailant. He fires, missing with his first shot, but hits with his second shot
causing a serious would to Heinrich (out of game).  Liuetenant Blub realizes that the cultist
with the tommygun is the most dangerous to the police and fires at him but misses both shots.
(See pic 1)

Yellow Cultist Team

Arthur again pulls the trigger on his tommygun and nothing happens. He discovers that he is
OUT OF BULLETS. He shouts out profuse profanitys realizing that he put the wrong clip into his
tommygun. Jimmie again shoots at Constable Nemo but only gets a grazing hit.  Steve hops over
the hedge and moves up to take a shot at Constable Gulp by the fence. The shotgun pelts are stopped by the brick column of the fence. (See Pic 2 & 3)

Threshold Team

Director Farnsworth notices some movement at the corner of the house to his left. He quickly moves
over that way and spots the cultist. He draws out his 2 trusty revolvers and shoots at the cultist.
Both shots hit and the cultist falls to the ground seriously wounded. Both Gerry and Jason climb over
the fence into the back yard. Gerry moves up to the window to the left of the door to look inside
for any cultists.(See Pic 4)

Red Cultist Team

Master Snyde yells up to Tobias, "They're coming in through the back as well. Organize a reception
for them." Tobias has Brutis and Tattoo move into the dining room by the back door as he comes down the stairs to entrance way door of the dining room.  Master Snyde orders Rick to get to the front door and use his weapon. Rick moves to the front door and spots Constable Gulp. He aims and gets a KILL SHOT which sees the constable fall seriously wounded. (See Pics 5 & 6)

(I forgot to mention that when a Twisted Fate card is used, I note that in the text with its title in CAPS)

TURN 4

Police Team

Luietenant Blub shouts out to Constable Woosh to move to outflank the cultists. Constable Woosh
moves to a position on the side of the sports car and then shoots at the closest cultist but misses.
Luietenant Blub again shoots at the tommygun weilding cultist but misses with both shots. (See Pic
1)

Yellow Cultist Team

Arthur drops the useless tommygun and draws his knife. He encourages Steve to continue closing with the coppers. Steve DOUBLE TIME moves to a position at the behind Counstable Nemo and due to his PEAK FORM, fires his shotgun at Nemo. He hits the constable whom is knocked out face down onto the ground. Jimmie turns to shoot at the constable firing from behind him but achieves no hits. (See Pic 2)

Threshold Team

Director Farnsworth yells, "We got to get in there". Hank finally picks the lock and opens the door
to find this hulking brute just inside with a huge battle axe. Hank raises his shotgun and fires but
misses his mark. Gerry breaks open the window and climbs into the house. He see a cultist with a
tommygun just on the other side of the open library door; draws his two swords and charges him. The cultist brings up his tommygun to block the pair of blades assailing him. Tobias successfully fends
off the blades and pulls back away from Gerry. (See Pic 3)

Red Cultist Team

Master Snyde hears the sounds of fighting in the other 2 rooms.  Tobias lets loose with his tommygun
at the sword wielding assailant causing 2 minor wounds which knocks out Gerry (out of the game).
Brutis moves in to melee this intruder in the doorway. His hammer strikes the man but hits the belt
buckle not injuring him, but knocking him down (face up). Tattoo thinks this is my time and rushes
in against the fallen intruder. Hank despartely defends himself and actually strikes a blow against
this tiny figure with his fist. This gives him to time to crawl away from the doorway. Meanwhile,
Rick not seeing any other targets outside reloads his rifle and moves out the building for a better
field of vision. Master Snyde moves into the receiving room. (See Pics 4 & 5)

(Just wish to say that I am really enjoying playing this scenario. It's bringing back to memory
all the rules that I had forgotten.)

TURN 5

Police Team

Liuetenant Blub feels an UNBRIDLED RAGE well up inside him from seeing Nemo shot and pulls out his combat knife while he charges the shotgun wielding cultist. His fury make his strike unstopable as
the knife plunges into the neck of the cultist, seriously wounding him (out of game) so that he crumples to the ground.  Woosh continues to fire at the cultist with the .22 pistol who has been firing at him and scores a hit on his second shot into the cultist's chest also seriously wounding him (out of game). (See Pic 1)

Yellow Cultist Team

Arthur barks at Minime and Cory, "Get your sorry asses into this fight". Both figures move to the
driveway on the opposite side of the police vehicle to the coppers. Arthur charges the copper who
shot Jimmie beside him. He feels like a KILLING MACHINE! but is only able to knock the copper face
down unconsious. (See Pic 2)

Threshold Team

Inspector Farnsworth yells out "Hank, stay down. We'll handle this." Larry moves to the left so
that he can see fully in through the door and lets loose a spray of tommygun fire at the two cultists
within the house. He achieves 2 hits against the brute, but misses the dwarf. He knows that this
burst is a KILL SHOT which seriously wounds the brute who drops to the floor like a rock. Inspector
Farnsworth moves to the right getting a line of sight on the cleaver wielding dwarf and fires both
his pistols at him. One bullets hits the dwarf causing a minor wound but enough to knock him out
(out of game). Meanwhile Jason levels his shotgun at the cultist with the tommygun. He feels like
the TARGET PRACTICE he performed earlier in the day is making this easy and hits the cultist causing
only 1 wound.  Jason then charges the cultist using his shotgun as a club. Jason successfully
strikes the cultist but not effective enough to take him out. (See Pic 3 & 4)

Red Cultist Team

Tobias and Jason continue their melee struggle with neither getting the upperhand on the other. Master Snyde charges into to the melee with poisoned knife ready. But Jason holds off the attack. Leroy charges back into the house and joins the swirling melee, gets only a grazing strike in. Rick enters the house again but can't get into the melee because there isn't enough room. (See Pic 5)
 
(Some of you may be wondering why I am not resolving the melee situation between Arthur and Woosh. When playing a multiple teams game, I only resolve the ongoing melees when it is either participants team's beginning portion of the turn.)

TURN 6

Police Team


Woosh being unconcious at the feet of cultist Arthur is unable to stop the coup-de-gras (out of game). Nemo grogily gets to his feet. Luietenant Blub moves to the front of the police vehicle and immediately sees two cultists close by moving towards Nemo and him. He aims his pistol at what he figures would be a Critical Hit in the chest by the heart, but as if by DIVINE INTERVENTION, the cultist moves and his shot misses. (Missed taking this Pic )

Yellow Cultist Team

Arthur shouts to Minime and Cory,"Go check the otherside of the vehicle and deal with anyone there. Minime goes around the backend, see the copper and charges into melee. Nemo,  still groggy, does not defend himself well and Minime drives the cleaver in Nemo's groin causing a serious wound (out of game). Cory follows Minime and since there is no further threat by the back charges into melee with Liuetenant Blub. Cory's knife drives into the abdomen causing a minor wound, but Blub falls to the ground (out of game). (See Pic 1)

Threshold Team

Jason begins to feel overwhelmed with 3 adversaries fighting him, but he focus' his efforts onto the cultist with the knife. and manages to fend off blows from all of them but cannot land a strike himself.  Inspector Farnsworth says, "Follow me in guys." He feels that something is not right, so proceeds OVERLY CAUTIOUS in through the door. He hears the struggle going on in the next room and charges in. The closest cultist to him appears to be the cult leader and he engages him. Neither the Leader or Farnsworth are able to strike their opponent.  Larry also feels a need to be OVERLY CAUTIOUS when entering the house. He can't see an opponent to shoot at so moves further forward to gain a line of sight.  Hank stands up and enters into the house. (See Pic 2)

Red Cultist Team

Tobias takes the lead in the fight, but Jason succeeds in landing a strike with his shotgun. As he lands his blow, it's like a KILL MACHINE blow against Tobias' head seriously wounding him (Out of game). Master Snyde growls at Director Farnsworth as the two tango in their dance of death. Snyde strikes Farnsworth and he internally gloats knowing that the poison on the dagger will begin to have its effects work on the man soon. The knife strike only causes a flesh wound, but that is enough. Leroy again engages Jason but the two of them do not land any telling strikes. (See Pic 3)

TURN 7

Since the Police team has no figures remaining, further turns will not show them.

Yellow Cultist Team

Arthur shouts out to his men,"Into the house". Both Minime and Cory move towards the front doors. Arthur charges into the house straight into combat with Jason. Jason sees him coming and swings his shotgun at Arthurs head. The barrel of the gun strikes Arthur's middle section and breaking some of his ribs. The sudden excruciating pain causes him to scream out in pain and renders Arthur unconscious. He falls to the floor (out of game). This scream causes both Rick and Leroy to pull back in fear (failed Psychology Test result). Master Snyde is so involved with his fight with Director Farnsworth
that he doesn't even notice the event. (No Pic)

Threshold Team

Director Farnsworth, feeling weaker (poison) continues his deadly duel with the cult's leader
but neither gets the upperhand on the other.  Larry feeling in PEAK FORM moves behind the melee into the next room and sees the cultist rifleman. He opens up with 2 bursts from his tommygun which takes down the cultist (out of game). Hank stays where he is to see how things develop with the melee. (Pic 1)

Red Team

Master Snyde focus' his attack efforts against Jason and is able to draw blood and rejoices inside because another intruder is poisoned. Leroy charges back into melee with Jason, but is unable to land a telling blow. (Pic 2)

TURN 8

Yellow Team


Cory moves into the house and sees Larry and then charges into him. Neither figure strikes a blow. (See Pic 1)

Threshold Team

The melees continue. Jason gets the upper hand on Leroy and smashes his shotgun into Leroy's nose causing a serious wound (out of game). Director Farnsworth manages to drive home a strike on Snyde causing a wound. Cory manages to strike Larry, but it is only a flesh wound. Director Farnsworth feels something warm like a DIVINE INTERVENTION and the effects of the poison seem to disappear. He continues his melee and gets a strike in against Snyde causing another wound. Snyde drops face down unconscious to the floor.  (See Pic 2)

Red Team

Both Director Farnsworth and Jason perform the coup-de-gras on Master Snyde.  Cory seeing this becomes enraged but Larry successfully hits Cory seriously wounding him (out of game). Out side, Minime hears no further fighting sounds and only strange voices inside yelling to find the child. He thus realizes that he is the last man standing for the cultists and runs off into the night (failed Psychology Test).

Epilogue

The threshold agents hear the baby in the basement crying and rush down to succour her. The toll was heavy in this fight but evil was prevented from accomplishing its dastardly deed. The Threshold medical teams were able to determine the type of poison and cure both affected agents. Later that night, Hank drives up to the Thompson's house and delivers home their child into their very grateful arms.

I hope that you have enjoyed reading this AAR. As you can see, the Twisted Fate deck really adds spice to the game. Some time in the future, I will write up another AAR, but I have a number of other projects that I wish to work on.  I do plan to run this scenario for 4 players (with a few little tweaks) at my next local game convention (BROWDSWORD) in Hamilton, ON, Canada.

Thanks Harley.  Well I really like this game and plan to continue playing it until Cthulhu prys the sanity from my soul. MWAHHHAAAAAHAHHAAHHAHAAHAHHAH!!!!!!!!
