Variable.  I only ordered the MP5 police pack, as some of the others looked less useful.

Also arrived today, a few bits and bobs from Hasslefree, including some gun sprues, and another Professor Beattie, some hurns from Heresy, and some resin scenery from Jed.

A very large, very heavy box of dwarf productioncastings. :o

And a box with a blister of LAM Arnolfini figures. 8)

Also, a small box from Rapier miniatures, with some of their witches and pumpkinmen. Great stuff.  :-*

A 'web-only' offer on 40 of the excellent Foundry Victoriana range civilians at 20% off but was able to pick them up in Nottingham today. Great figures, they will be used to reboot the 'Victorian Undead' project.

Thanks, Akula, for buying the coppers - would be interested to understand what you mean by 'variable' - casts or sculpts? North Star did have a few problems when they first started casting them for me. Just found a whole load of stock in a drawer from when we had the ebay shop, might rent a table at a show?

Sculpts.  The MP5 team are good, and i'd recommend them (bought a couple of sets) - with some of the others, IMHO, the arms look a bit too bendy, as if the sculptor has struggled to get the arm posed around the HF weapons.

As I slowly succumb to FOW: (it's the most played at my local(ish) game store)
A platoon box of 5 Panzer IV-H's from Battlefront. I must be ill though just realized it's been 5 days and I haven't even cracked the cellophane off.

Just picked up two boxes of the new Perry Mahdist figures from Northstar, lovely plastics with a little booklet from Lt. Col. Snook inside, complete with flags and pictures for colour schemes, all from Northstar who have 8 more CASES arriving tomorrow but they are disappearing straight out the door as fast as they come in...Also, some more Shangani Patrol stuff from Nick cos I wrote that article a while ago, plus lovely FFL command and...I better stop going there, I always end up with more for the pile!

Comic book store was selling off the last of their monsterpocalypse, I always have been interested in that game but the price never was right. Anyhow they were selling it at 60% or so of so I decided that a starter pack, a monster and a unit booster plus two accessory packs for the price normally paid only for the starter pack would be a fine deal to get in to this thing!

Oh and added bonus, the monsters turned out to be terra khan (the not godzilla) and Cyber Khan (guess what he is inspired by) which makes for a classing match up, so I did not get burned by random miniatures this time.

Latest mini received is actually my FIRST minis received.  That's right, these are my first lead miniatures.   I'm not an experienced painter.  I've painted a handful of figures...

Space Hulk:

 Last Night on Earth:

and Battles of Westeros:

But my new game interest is All Things Zombie, of which I have no terrain and no miniatures to game with.  I've started pulling a few things together for Terrain from World Works Games and with Foundry's sale last week, I picked up a good little lead mole hill of figures to use with it.  Behold, my lead pile in its glorious entirety:

If you're familiar with the units you'll spot: Miss Trude's Girls, The Young Plugs, Street Thugs, The Professionals, Swat Team Alpha, Swat Team Shadow and Juno's Crew (with an extra Ace).  Also a couple of wolves that will be painted up as German Sheppards.

I gotta clean up the models still, need to pick up a file.  Any recommendations on that (and other tools?).
I'm thinking about trying to remove the units from the integral bases.  Does anyone else do that or is it generally too difficult?

I'm also thinking of converting another unit, but already started another thread on that here.

Don't bother messing with the integral bases, just stick the figures to another base (pennies work great, and you can't beat the price) then use a bit of putty to blend the integral base into the "real" base.

For needle files and other tools, any halfway-decent model train, hobby or game store should be able to set you up. X-Acto knife, spare blades and a couple of needle files will set you up nicely for cleaning flash and mold lines off figures.
