My Judge Minty from the Frothers Charity Thingy turned up the other day.

I'd totally forgotten that I was actually getting something for that.

Really nice, dare I say it puts all of mongoose's Dredd stuff to shame and leaves me wishing Frothers had some more done so I couldn't have a wee squad of them.

Was never going to happen, I'm afraid. Mongoose (love 'em or loathe 'em) were very kind (as were Rebellion) in allowing us to infringe on their IP and license as it was and to do more Judges would have just been taking the Mickey Bliss.

A few heavily discounted packs of the Dadi i Piombo/ Venexia Modern Italians that were part of an online sale. Hard to resist at the price. Finally started to look at them properly and put a few together.

Verdict? Welcome to the 1990s or maybe the late '80s. These are rather like 28mm versions of the old Hotspur/ Combat Miniatures from the early '90s in terms of detail and casting quality. Quite a bit of flash to be trimmed and detail wise nothing like as sharp as the current sculpting benchmarks, whcih is why they make me think of big 20mms, complete with thick, thick bases and rifle magazines as thick as family bibles. I'm not bagging them, they will do service and it's an unusual topic that also has quite a bit of conversion potential. Carry handles snipped off, the rifles make pretty good Galil proxies.

Went a little mad this month and dropped a fair bit on ebay:

Strangely no one but me bid on the terminator squads (in blue) so each squad was £1.99 and the inquisitor in terminator armour was £2.20.

But the best thing that happened to me on the mini front this week is winning this lot on ebay for £32, I gambled as the pic looked interesting and I could collect from the seller who was less than an hour away:

Sweet zombie Jehovah there's a lot of ancient citadel in this lot, most of it's being detol bathed at the moment but I'll post up a breakdown when I get it all sorted and I'll probably be posting up some stuff for trade in the bizzare when I get sorted

I bought Little Miss Muffet, Alice In Wonderland, a Tavern Wench, a Space Babe, a Secret Agent Babe, an Anime Babe, an Alien Babe, a Female Druid and a Steampunk Babe from Reaper. I also bought Peter Pan and Tinkerbell from Tales of War and a couple of Pirates from Ron and Bones. I got my Gnomes in from Stonehaven as well. Pretty good haul so far.

this morning I had the pleasure to unpack the Artizan order I bought from
Miniaturicum that arrived yesterday
THX again, Michael, splendid service in 3 days from online order to door delivery, all for free, all complete

now, apart from possibly the legion mounted command (of which I haven't seen a picture yet...)  I have probably all Artizan foreign legion I ever wanted, including a plethora of officers (and also some surplus I want to pass on) for the legionnaires from other manufactureres that needed command figures.

And for the first time I have three unit compositions complete so that I will be able to start my army painter challenge

only figures missing now are from woodbine, brigade and foundry that will allow me to complete the other 5 units for the whole army, but I have now a few months breathing space until I have to order these too

the only thing I am still pondering is whether to make a unit of senegalese rifles as well

Reaper bones skellies and werewolf, from Black Knight Games at Q-Con.

 :o

Not the stuff for me. Not for little spear-clutching human(oid)s, anyway. Maybe if I ever need one of those legendary worms, but even then don't fancy the mould lines.
