And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

On my last holiday to the USofA the tour diverted a LONG way to, 'Include Vicksberg'.
Only we got there late & were leaving early in the morning. 'Ah well' I thought, not enough
time to do anything like a tour of ACW Vicksberg, then, when the coach pulled out & went
around the corner... there was the USS Cairo !!!!!! I didn't even have time to get a snap
as we went passed. Damn & Blast! I could have WALKED to it, had I have known.
Thanks for your posting.

And I didn't even have an Ironclad excuse.

Next rainy day I have to go post some more photos. I visited the Vicksburg siege works and took a guided tour of Champion Hill battlefield from Sid Champion V. In retrospect I didn't take enough photos but do have some.

Seems like we just missed each other. I was there in 2016 too.  Loved walking around the Cairo and thought the display quite remarkable.
Now what is this whole life of mortals but a sort of comedy, in which the various actors, disguised by various costumes and masks, walk on and play each one his part, until the manager waves them off the stage?

I was there in November, a few weeks after the election.
