Hello, everyone.

There was some interest in seeing these, so I thought I'd get some pictures. These were painted using reaper paints and then shaded using the Army Painter system. I'm very happy with the results. For the most part, the weapons were painted to give them a sort of "Baroque" sci-fi look, so that they could work, with a little imagination for Pulp Science Fiction as well. I would like to eventually add some - but the line was sold (I wanted to buy it myself, but couldn't justify the expense of a solitary sci-fi range in what is predominantly a pulp historical line so far), and I'm not sure who owns the rights now, or whether they intend to bring out more. Bob is my favorite sculptor - perhaps one day I'll be lucky enough to have him sculpt a few pieces for me!

The sets also came with "sentry droids" from GZG - essentially remotely controlled remote machine guns, which I haven't finished yet. I will post those when they are ready, but I've been sidetracked with painting a Bactrian Army in 15mm and working on my Banya Pass project for Pacificon.

These "Hobs" are part of a larger project. I will be running some games of "Ambush Alley", slightly modified, with Dreenoi insectoids from Reverisco as the "Insurgent" opposition. Essentially the Hobs are meant to be clearing a planet, or series of planets, of the all devouring space locusts. Think bug hunt, but with the Bugs slightly more intelligent than they appear in some science-fiction. The Ambush Alley games allow me to run the game for the group, maybe at a convention or two, and solo. They're a pretty nice set of rules. Add in the suicide bomber rules and flamethrowers from "Force on Force", and it's a pretty nifty set up.

Still some work to do. I need to paint up an armored vehicle or two, acquire the rest of the terrain, and touch up the bases of the Hobs here, in no particular order. I might need more Dreenoi - I have around forty - but I'm hoping that's not the case (Ambush Alley requires around 30 or so odd Insurgents, no scenario allows for more than thirty regulars, total). The insurgent "hot spots" will be represented by Reverisco Dreenoi Larval Drop Pods, which I've also purchased.

Anyway, here they are. Comments, etc. welcome. I apologize for the flecks of dust. I'm experimenting with a new "ash waste" flock, and I haven't brushed it off all the surfaces it shouldn't be on yet! So much to do! But I do think this will be lots of fun. I've tried here to depict each of the poses at least once, though I'm sure I missed something.

Hob command section. Captain Harfoot examines the situation from a distance, flanked by a medical officer and a "thud" gunner.

Hob weapons team. Two troopers assisting a mobile heavy "scorcher".

Hob weapons team. A heavy plasma rifle, on the far right, is supported by two light infantry.

Hob technical section. A drone control specialist (center) is flanked by a light infantryman with SMG, and an infantryman carrying an assault rifle.

Yet another weapons section. In this case, two infantry supporting a heavy "scorcher", who is turned with his back to the camera to show some of the detail on the sculpt. Specialist troops in the army are denoted by shoulder pad markings.

Finally, a small image depicting a team of Hobs assaulting a bunker, supported by a medical officer.

I have just over thirty five of these fellows all together. Hope you enjoy!

-Doc

Those are cool little figures.  I hadnt seen them before and my minds eye saw them without coats, more like the older GW Ratling Snipers.

That looks like a fun project, thanks for putting up the photos.

The Dreenoi figures really appeal to me.  Do you have an idea of what sort of colour shceme you will use for them?
