You really have picked up the slack in many areas of ACW minis.
Great work and must start adding your sculpts.

I am very pleased that you are interested in my modest work.

You created very realistic postures! Congrats!

It’s clear you referred to a drill manual, as you have cannoneers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 in the correct positions, and performing their assigned roles.  Very well done!  You may be the only sculptor that has done this.

If I have a complaint, it would probably be the hat on cannoneer 2.  It gives the casting a cavalier Wild West look that just seems out of place.  It would be nice to see him in a forage cap.  Although the cavalry was never very fond of their yellow branch of service color, the artillery jealously hung onto their red as long as it was available.  A forage cap would provide another way to add red to the crew.

Thank you very much for your comments.
I never understood why the Fkrmers who joined the Confederate Army did not wear hats like they did in the wild west.
I took ideas from this picture.

Thank you for the idea about the cap! I will try to do this as one of the options.

I agree, and it gives him a reenactor look. But they are otherwise excellent figures and a joy to paint!

Extra Bio.....please confirm which figure seems out of place.

Thank you.

Hi, Dmitri;

Per the drill manual, cannoneer number two; the bareheaded artilleryman holding the next round. As I mentioned previously, it gives the casting a “Wild West” look.  But this is just my opinion. Working an ACW field piece is a hot, sweaty, nasty job, especially if you are working around the muzzle, as cannoneer number two would be.  I would think wearing a hat or cap would be preferable, if only to keep sweat out of your eyes.

I’m not a big fan of the print you used as a reference.  For example, I highly doubt a mounted artilleryman at full gallop over uneven terrain could hold a pipe in his mouth without losing it or breaking a tooth 😉. So there is a lot of artistic license in use.

Once again, all this is just my opinion, nothing more.
