Turkish Brigade - Russo Turkish War
« on: August 16, 2009, 02:01:22 PM »
Just to prove i dont just do Armour.......

Another in a continuing commission, majority Outpost Miniatures, run down as follows:

Foot General - Askari Miniatures
Mounted Command - Perry Miniatures
Field Gun - Old Glory
Artillery crew - Askari Miniatures
Foot Officer waving sword - Eureka Miniatures
All other foot and officers - Outpost Wargames Services.

The Outpost sculptor, Martin Baker, has certainly excelled with these figures. They have lovely detail, poising and style, recommended.

The horses and standards are my first run with the airbrush on non-AFVs, certainly the way forward.

A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

Geoff's quiet particular with his research so i have no reason to doubt the flags, the Green/Red one was from a Russian Film. What colours do you think they should be?

I don't think anything
and I don't know
my question arises from the (just corrected) misinformation that Kemal Ataturk changed the green flag of the Ottoman empire to the red flag of modern Turkey (see how movies can be misleading)

but I am totally wrong, the ottoman empire had exactly this flag, so if the turkish army of 1877 did carry the state color your flag is 150% correct

apart from being superbly painted

that's reassuring, although i'm sure Geoff will pop up and enlighten us a bit more at some point. To his credit he gives me the most detailed, and researched, briefs i have ever had! He let me off with the haversack colours turning out light brown rather than off white but generally doesn't miss a trick :o)

These were an ongoing commision, so i don't game them myself. Geoff [Shipka] is the driving force for the RTW figures being produced by Jeff at Outpost. So he is best placed to answer, although i've done bulgarians and have some Russians just in. Geoff moderates the RTW yahoo group:

The Outpost sculpts by Martin Baker are absolutely top notch, the detail now rivals some of the top 5 (28mm) sculptors out there.

These look great Neil and the airbrush seems to work a treat also you are right Martin Baker does seem to be developing some cracking sculpting skills, It sbben interesting seeing his skill develop through all the Outpost ranges and older ones such as Curteys and the like
