Hearts' Carnevale Project
« on: 13 October 2020, 09:06:47 PM »
Recently I've taken the dive into Carnevale from TTCombat. I purchased the starter box and a couple figures I wanted to paint and have been chipping away on stuff here and there. Here's the first completed gang, the Rashaar. My first outing with the rules will be on Thursday so if I seem like I don't know much about it that's why.

Anyway on to the pictures

Nice work.
I like the colour scheme you have chosen for them.

Do let us know your thoughts on the game as I am considering it myself.

Thanks! I got lucky in that the first scheme I tried sort of worked. The blue is a little greener in person. I used vallejo turquoise with a coelia greenshade wash from Games Workshop.

Will do on the rules. I'll try to take some photos as we play if I can.

Fantastic can't wait to see more. I went big in the kick-start although I haven't played it yet! I've just finished building all the mdf terrain I bought! I've got a mixture of the new TT combat gangs and the old Vesper on metals.

In case you haven't seen it, in the November Edition of Miniature Wargames they are giving away a free Carnevale miniature (a female Barnabotti) and have a feature in the game.

Very nice! I'm been tempted by Carnevale several times, their figures are gorgeous. And I always wanted to make a Venice table! Please post more and push me over the edge

They show up for me but yeah, they're hosted on imgur. The site seems to work ok for me but admittedly i had a hard time getting two of these to upload

can't work out what's up with my imgur access. It must be an IP thing, as it affects all the devices in the household. And yet there doesn't appear to be a great many other folk affected by the 'problem'.
but ... I've got to see your pics by going to your blog ...  great stuff!

Yeah, its been "buggy" for lack of a better term.

We did get to try the game out, excuse the "in progress" guild members for now please.

This was the set up for the third game in the "Learn to Play Campaign" Supplied with the starter box.

And here is a shot from the middle of the same game

I have really mixed feelings at the moment. The first two scenarios were nothing to report on as they really only teach a mechanic at a time and allow you to get to grips with the system. I think its an interesting system but the requirements to actually trigger a "fumble" roll seem incredibly unlikely to actually trigger most of the time.

In this third game, We were fighting over an objective which could be picked up. Turn one, he grabbed it with one of the slaves and then we all just piled into the middle.

I scored an agenda for being in base contact with three enemies and he scored one for spending will points and then a second one for disengaging twice.

I think adding all of the rules for Magic, Willpower, Command Points etc and playing a full sized game might change my opinion but for now the game was "Ok"

Well be playing again in a couple weeks.

Agreed. The components provided are really excellent imo. theres acrylic tokens, learn to play stuff. The rulebook is excellent and the miniatures are really top notch.

I'm just on the fence about the gameplay but again, I have yet to use all of the rules.

They have also just released a new smaller starter set with eight figures in.The figures are the same factions as the larger starter set so help to expand your choices.

Just getting into this myself.I have went with the Doctors faction to start with.

any more update/s on the rules Heart?

really looking to get into something very 'self-contained' and continue to be impressed by the overall package, so to speak.

and that new 'intro' set looks great - like the 'board' and figures.
