Early War French HMG (Now with loader in correct position)
« on: August 17, 2009, 01:06:29 PM »
I was fed up with painting Khaki & grey so i thpught that i would paint this that i had lying about & i finished painting it over the weekend:

The Hmg & crew are from Renegade, the prone figure is from Brigade games, they all have head swaps with redoubt ACW heads.

Don't know what i'm going to do with it though, will probably stick it on ebay  :?

Ooh, lovely. How much do you want for it? I'm not sure if I can be bothered to paint mine.

Oh, and by the way, welcome to the LAF's esteemed Wrongly-Painted Rifle club! (with many members such as Svenn, myself and the Prof in the Lee Enfield branch)  :)

I would PM you an offer, but I never normally buy painted figures, and honestly have no idea as to what they are worth.

I'll go away and have a think (and a look at eBay), and then PM you.

P.S. Don't change it on my account. My KAR's Lee Enfields are all hopelessly wrong, and I never went back to correct them. I like being in the LAF-WPRC.  ;D

Oh dear, I've just noticed something else. The M1914 didn't have a belt-feed capacity in 1914 (rigid strip only until 1917), and it fed from the other side in any case.

That's gonna be more work to fix than a bit of paint on a rifle. I think I'll leave it. Sorry for wasting your time.

Yes Andy K has pointed that out to me over on Wab Forum  :-[

In my defence the Renegade site shows it as I've done it  ;)

Renegade have shown they don't know nothing about their own ranges. They paint their Lebels wrong, too.  :)

Nice work Keith  8)

We have all being in the WPRC in the past, but don't let that put you off painting more fine examples of the Great War!

Don't worry about the loader as I'd to point out to a company owner (no names no pack drills) that he had his designer make hotchkiss belts instead of clips. It's easy to make mistakes if you are unfamilar with the weapons used by all belligerents.

We need to raise a protest flag to Renegade!

Best wishes,

To be fair to Renegade, though there are a couple of errors in painting and assembly on their website, my M1914s came with the loaders holding the rigid 24-round loading strips, rather than a belt. Not sure what's up there.

as I said on the WAB forum its a really top job regardless of which way the loader was positioned, the loader now has his front to the enemy which i think improves the overall look.  :)
