Thanks for all the photos folks!
« on: 15 October 2020, 05:07:02 PM »
I have been a member of this forum going on 10 years now and the reason I keep coming back is because of all the photos that the members here publish. I'd love to comment on every single one, but time will not allow it.

It doesn't matter the quality either, be it from a beginner or a pro. As one of our elder members has stated, it takes a long time to master this hobby and if you are here long enough you will see how the quality of photos for many increases over time. What matters is that folks are obviously proud of their work and the good folks here are quick to encourage and offer advice with asked.

We have a special community here... one based on all the photos on display spanning just about any interest that could be had and the polite discourse it brings with them.

So I for one would like to thank you all for your photos, your commentary and your support that this community provides. You all make this forum a uniquely pleasurable place to visit... day after day.

Can't wait to see more...  :)

Having a batting average of only 2.46 posts per months I am not a vigorous contributor on any scale but I am a prolific viewer coming here several times a day.

I second and third your thoughts - this is a great place to visit.

Long ago in a place far, far away Lord Caernarvon once asked

Carter must have had the LAF in mind when he replied with his famous words:

"Yes, wonderful things!"

I agree.
What value the most though, is that when I'm looking at models here at LAF i feel like i'm looking at models that are going to see table time and get some gameplay in. I'm not looking at studios advertising their work trying to drum up clients.

Too many studios and grumpy gamers put me off the social media groups (well, besides their social irresponsibilities), but LAF seems like a place where people genuinely just enjoy painting and playing.

Just to add a bit of balance I will say that I enjoy some of the words on this forum too! But it is mainly the pictures.

The creativity and the mix of styles and skill levels is wonderful - I feel that whatever your interests or abilities there is stuff on here to inspire.

I remember a couple of years ago when I was on the cusp of dipping my toe back into the hobby for the first time since my teenage years I came across pictures on the internet of a "construct" someone had built out of cork. It was on the Frostgrave Board of this Forum and I saw it and thought "I could do that". I proceeded to attack a wine cork with a knife, glue and bits of cardboard. Of course I then needed some paint, brushes, a sprue of plastic figures to donate a weapon, bases, maybe a book of rules for exploring a frozen city etc etc and it snowballed from there.

Anyway, here is my effort, just in case there is anyone else reading who might be tempted to have a go in the same way I was.

And with a Frostgrave Wraith Knight for scale:

Nicely said Ray. Whilst I quit Facebook and gave up on most of my previously very prolific online activities I remain here on LAF for the very thing you have brought up. I am continually impressed, motivated and thankful for this forum and its members.
