Thank you guys, this project and this forum actually have been a much needed source of distraction and motivation to keep on painting.
Small update.
Sunday we had a small game where the scenario required a small force of attackers (which included me) to chop down trees and cross a river while being pelted by defenders.
Here's the view from my side of the river

and here's my dwarf civilians having chopped down enough trees to set up a temporary bridge

I also created a small "army book entry" for the dwarf general that will lead my army in the campaign

It's a very first attempt; I need a better picture and a smoother rewrite, but it's a start I'm happy with.
Finally, last night I applied the basecoat for the armour and flesh for the next batch of models.

They'll probably spend another session or two in the ugly phase.
I really like these AoW models but man would they have been easier to paint in sub-assemblies. I'll keep that in mind for the next box.
