Anderson Shelter school project

When your daughter comes home for half term and tells you she has to build an Anderson Shelter for Lego people out of recycled things ... *rubs hands and grins* ...

Materials used

Main body: insulation foam block, cardboard (corrugated iron), balsa sheet (floor), old dried tealeaves (soil/grass), cotton pads (soaked in PVA & water, sandbags),

Furniture: lolly sticks, skewer (flagpole, lantern inner), clear plastic tubing (lantern outer), wire loop (lantern handle),

Vegetables: green paper (cabbages, leeks, cauliflower leaves), mashed white paper & PVA (cauliflower inner)

Decoration: green paint (grass), beige paint (sandbags), green/beige paint mix (corrugated iron sheets), brown paint (floor), brown ink (furniture), hairspray (sealant over all), yellow & black paint with gloss varnish (lantern),

Superb work, obviously she is 'a chip off the old block'!

It reminded me of when I took my Dad (ex-RAF) to Duxford in 2005. He's no longer with us but I remember the memories it brought back for him when he saw the Anderson Shelter they have there.
