Birch Gun
« on: 10 November 2020, 05:39:25 PM »
I had an unexpected parcel arrive yesterday from my friend Tim Peterson in Canada. Its always exciting to get one of Tim’s parcels; I think back to the section of Mounties, the converted truck with two sets of POUM female machine-gunners on board, the WI grenade throwing giant catapult, the nanny pushing an explosive-filled pram and of course, Willie McSpaniel, the tank-hunting eccentric. But what was in yesterday’s parcel? I’d had some foreknowledge of the previous ones but this "out of the blue". What could it be?

I’ll tell you what it was (and the post’s title kind of gives it away); it was a Birch Gun...! A 3D printing. Painted by Tim and he’d even dedicated it to my wife, Celia. He’s an old smoothie..... :D

Would have looked fantastic stuck in the Herefordshire mud like all your other tanks Doug.  Hope all is well.  A lovely and most generous gift.

Roo- you are getting cheeky in your old age :D You may not have noticed that this baby is NOT steam-powered, which was a slight problem in the other vehicles I deployed in Herefordshire. Any more loose talk from you and I may have to return and teach you chaps another smart lesson.😉

Take care old bean.

Very kind, Roo; I do miss the special Hereford craziness (and so does my prisoner, the disreputable Boer, Stokkies Joubert. Or did we execute him? Can’t remember).

Fragrance Sweetmeat sends her regards.

If you were to strike him down he would only become more powerful than you can possibly imagine 😉.

Nice model.  But what makes it a "Birch" gun?

That is a real beauty and a worthy addition to Sir Gilbert's military might!   :-*

It is very lovely and a spectacular gift - I’m very lucky.

It’s a bit too soon to assume that this will end up with Sir Gilbert, mind you - there’s a number of other interested parties. I know Chief Superintendent Ronald "Ronnie" Biggs is aware of it, for example.
