French "Robin Hood"
« on: 26 December 2020, 03:23:11 PM »
Hello guys,

In order to give a bit of originality in gaming Medieval, here is a few WIP about my Medieval Project about a french local hero base on a old tv show ; Thierry La Fronde.

It's a black and white tv show (1963), retracing the medieval adventures of a young nobleman in revolt against the English oppressor and his henchmen (or Collabos): the famous Thierry de Janville, known as Thierry La Fronde.

https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6x2aya

A french version of Robin Hood (English), Till the Mischievous (Flemish), William Wallace (Scotland), William Tell (Switzerland) or for older times, Samson.

In the logic of the legendary Hero, he needs an oppressor. For France, apart from Asterix, Thierry La Fronde comes to mind fairly quickly. The bad guys are the English and there are always one or two local collaborators to make a deal with the occupier. It's a basic rule among all peoples. Whatever the period, an invader will always find support among the invaded; it must be in the genes of men.

So lets start  with some FireForge conversions turning foot soldiers into (english) bowmen....

The FireForge figurines are out of box with a bow forearms coming from one Conquest Games sprue .

More to come but you can follow my blog to see the WIP along the coming year.

thank you.
Thierry is a well known hero for a lot of french people of my class age,  around 50 and more. Like Roger Moore 's Ivanhoe for the english.
Nostalgia indeed.

and original..... to be a nobleman and a master slinger in a medieval world  o_o

thank You captain !

i'm living here in the countryside for 20 years and every little village or town has nearly his own coat of arms. Sometime shared between two villages/towns.

For my area (north of France (59), you can see all of them here :
