Indians! Who makes 'em?
« on: 26 August 2009, 03:13:58 PM »
Hell-0 there boyos!

I was doing an inventory of my Old West figs, and I realized....

I HAVE NO INDIANS!

Who makes Native American Indians?  I know Foundry makes some, but who else?

Thanks!

No need to look elsewhere. The best.

I'm partial to Foundry's line. Conquest's are good, but not the tribes I was looking for.

Not necessarily and besides you cannot get the Commanches. :(

Foundry are very nice, especially the Apaches.

Artizan also do a limited range of Apaches, which look quite nice:

Off topic, but I do really wish someone would step up with more figures in mixed native/western garb to use as "civilized indians", half-breeds, metis, locals gone native, and the like.

I have lots of Indian models, both Plains Indians and Apache, from a variety of sources. My favourite Apache models are from Artizan, followed by Foundry. For Plains Indians, I really do recommend Old Glory - I don't normally go near OG, but their big bags of Plains Indians are not only very cheap, but also quite nice. The horses in those packs are particularly good.

The riders aren't the best castings you'll ever see, but the variety of figures, plus nice horses, at a very low price makes them the winners for me.

Foundry also do some nice Plains Indians - I only have one pack so I can't comment on the whole range.

As mentioned above, Conquest are just breathtaking. I have their Crazy Horse, and it's probably my favourite Indian sculpt ever - but the downside is that you're limited to certain tribes as the range isn't yet complete.

Are Conquest minis comparable to Black Scorps and Artizans?  Those are almost all of my cowboy figs... With a few Foundry thrown in...

Don't forget the indians in the Perry Miniatures AWI range. Very nice and compatible with at least Conquest. There are a few with clothes in there.
Foundry also has some Delaware and Cherokee indians in their range and lots of others that might do the trick for you.

I've got a few of each: Artizan, Foundry and Conquest. I'll bring them up with me this weekend.

Dixon has Apaches and various Plains' types.  Brigade Games has some for King Philip's War.

No the Conquest will be quite small and match with Perry and Old Glory rather than the 2 you name
Conquest did have Comanche but they needed work on the horses so were on "sale" and then withdrawn some 12 or so months ago :(

well, as far as I can remember, when the native american daddy is tired, he goes to his tipi, lays down next to the native american mommy and then - they make little native americans   ;)
or what are you talking about?

Well, Southwest (USA) and Plains Indians (USA) are covered nicely  :)  as above and there are sources for SouthEast (USA) and NorthEast (USA) figures.

I assume that's your main interest?

If it's South America, Central America, California (available in plastic,) or Pacific Northwest then it's a bit more problematic.  Or at least it was when I was looking several years ago (wow, at least five years now IIRC.)   :(

Oh, I assumed it was 25mm or 28mm.  With the resurgence of 15mm there may be sources but I'd have no idea who...
