GSW's "Blood Paint"?
« on: 15 January 2021, 03:52:23 AM »
I came across these in Green Stuff World's shop, but I'm unsure what you'd use it for besides painting a blood bath.

Anyone used it? And if so, what was the effect?

I don't use their products after I read about how they have stolen ideas from other manufacturers and then applied for EU design protection and forced the original developers out of business using it.

Painting gems and tinting lenses/lights, but then I’ve already got Tamiya clear red for that.

I guess that may be a good thing depending on the company.  lol

So basically, these are like a transparent paint?

If it's a more brush and user friendly version of TCR it might be worth a go (Vallejo Transparent Red is almost there but doesn't give quite as good results).

But, like Pixelgeek, I've read rather disturbing things about GSW  :-I

The most recent thing that I'd heard was about a year ago with their entire thing of claiming colorshift is their trademark despite it having been used for years...and a lawsuit aimed at Vallejo, and hitting a youtube channel reviewing the Vallejo paints over it.

You also have their rollers which and punches which both had them copy and then make claims against the people who originally made them

I just use Tamiya Clear Red as others have said. Probably a whole lot cheaper I'd imagine (TCR) I usually have 2 pots, 1 regular TCR and another that I have dropped a drop of black into for the coagulated look (usually a half used pot). Although It is easy enough to just mix up as you are using it.

Good grief man, how much blood do you paint onto your miniatures? I mean; 'usually'? As in; you go through several pots a year? ;D lol

Maybe he dips the figures in little tiny bathtubs of it, like tiny versions of Elizabeth Bathory.  :)

  lol

I remember a trend a couple of years ago for mixing pva/uhu with red paint for strings of gore on swords etc - is this going to have that consistency?

But, like Pixelgeek, I've read rather disturbing things about GSW

Let's not brush aside the controversy with the Green Stuff World book of genocidal atrocities in miniature.

Haven't you painted a Khorne army... All TCR, go through hundreds of the pots, lol
Really two pots since about 2010, left the lid off one for a while so it was even more coagulated looking :)
