Tell your kids they look very nice. I could never get my 2 into gaming albeit my daughter has "found" D&D at University.  As well as Team Yankee I can recommend "Seven Days to the River Rhine" as another set of Cold War rules. Not too complex but a bit more tactically challenging than Team Yankee. My 1980s Yanks are still waiting in the painting queue but will  be done in overall green.

Hey team,

After taking in board the advice here, googling and his own research, Little Fish the Elder has had a pretty fair bash at his first T-80. Not sure what colours he ended up using but here's how it looks:

What do you think? Still a bit too dark?  It is done over a black spray undercoat.

Anyway, thanks to all who made suggestions. It is much appreciated.

Muzfish, maybe a tad lighter but looks a creditable effort .I moved away from black undercoat and now use a gray spray primer. I've got three early M1s, two M2/3 Bradleys and a Chaparral Air Defence system sitting waiting to be painted. Don't really know if I want to start yet another 15mm Cold War force....

Very nice.

Possibly could do with a final dry brush.

The real question is how does it look on the board. Background colours affect how we see foreground colours.

Have a look at Ash's BMP-2 for an extreme example..

Thanks for the comments. I will suggest he consider a lighter drybrush just to finish it off.

I will post some photo ion the table of honour next time they are deployed.

He'll need to get his colour scheme sorted pretty soon as it's his birthday in April and he's been asking for the Team Yankee Soviet Starter set for ages.  As chance would have it, there's one in the cupboard for him.

Muzfish I think your minion has done an excellent job and should be very proud! Keep up the good work (and bravo for starting the addiction).

Thanks, BALM.  He asked, quite out of the blue, to see the comments here last night and said that over the upcoming holidays he will another lighter drybrush and then work on the tracks and machine guns. Luckily I managed to hide the bit above where I mentioned his upcoming birthday present.  ;)

I'll post the results here and see when they're done and see how his Little Brother goes with his US armour.

They are both also into GW stuff (through the Warhammer Conquest magazine) and the local store has a painting competition every school holidays so they are both working on their entries already.

It's great to have something we can all do together.
