Well another issue with companies like Wargames Foundry is that lines often shared several sculptors...so you could end up with different sizes between those sculptors.  My buddies have some Artizan/Foundry older miniatures which are simply minute to every other line we've used, etc.

If someone were starting new, I can't think of a line I'd recommend more heartily than Knuckleduster.  The line has grown to cover almost everything you'd need outside of Cavalry/Indians, etc.
