28mm Roman Cataphracts by Gripping Beast
« on: January 24, 2021, 05:28:47 PM »

Finally got these figures painted, can't really figure out why I put it off for so long. They are really rather nice miniatures  https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2021/01/and-theyre-done-28mm-gripping-beast.html

Very nice. Is this one of the plastics? Do you know how they fit size-wise with metals? I found the GB plastic Late Roman infantry a lot slimmer than their metals. I mix plastic and metal units in my army but wouldn’t mix them together in individual units.

I haven't got any of their metal minis, I could take a couple of pictures of them with Gripping Beast plastic infantry if you like, that would help give an idea as to height and heft

Nice job.   I'm currently using the Gothic Nobles and modifying them a bit to be Seleucid Cataphracts but those late Roman ones would work a lot better.  Might have to buy them too  :)

When I saw these advertised I wasn't too sure but got a couple of sprues and think they are pretty good.
Converted mine to Kushan/Parthians with some FireForge Russian heads.

Yours looks decent mate

Weirdly I was considering using them for something fantasy but would really welcome some kind of comparison shot against well known miniatures of whatever kind

Completed my Seleucid Cataphracts.  As previously I wish I had bought the late Roman set.  Anyhow I'm pretty happy with the result.
