Avast ye!

Here are some pics of my newly launched pirate crew and ship, completed over the (Australian) summer and ready to set sail after our recent snap lockdown here in Perth...

Figures are a motley mix of:
  • Northstar On the Seven Seas 'Calico Jack's Crew'
  • Crusader Minis pirates
  • A single Chinese Boxer from the North Star In Her Majesty's Name range

The ship is the Printable Scenery 3D printed Sloop (Cannon Version), printed in WA under license by OTP Terrain  She is rigged according to the Printable Scendery guidelines and video, but with some modifications for practicality and playability (e.g. small sails).  Technically the entire rig can be struck down for storage/transit as the lines are mostly secured to the hull using small jeweller's spring loaded lobster clasps, though I am yet to try this!   Cannons are from a ship model seller in Melbourne.

Hope you enjoy!

Really lovely. At first I thought it was Firelock Games’ Sloop that was modified. I could steal some ideas for mine.

Very fine!

What is the name of the ship?

Are you planning on using it in a game?

Hi Michael,

I have christened her the Eeuwse Havik (Century Hawk) and plan to run her as the vessel of a renegade crew of the Dutch East India Company who, on a return voyage from Batavia to The Netherlands, have eschewed their corporate bosses in favour of a life of plunder in the Spanish Main.  Some members of our club are setting up an occasional Legends of the High Seas campaign over the next few months.

More boats join the flotilla:

HM Armed Pinnace Gadfly enters the scene (apparently under new management). A beautiful MDF/Cardboard model kit from Australian company Miniature Scenery.
Long boats are from Printable Scenery via OTP Terrain.  She carries a Carronade and swivel guns.  I have modified mine so they can be removed, allowing the Gadfly to partake in other duties.

Nice name.  I have never played Legends of the High Seas, but I think I have it tucked away here somewhere.  I am a long-time fan of Mordheim, and as I recall many of the mechanics were similar.

Like the new ship as well.

OK then! :D

Here's a pic of the Gadfly with her rigging struck down and guns removed for a silent beach landing style mission.  (Her oars are nearly finished).

I see the figure nearest the bow (pics 3 and 4 in the first post) is fully prepared for the Covid.
