Selwg show 1980

Hi looking for help please can anyone remember the date of the delegation show at Greenwich town hall in 1980? It would have been a Sunday either in September or October

It was the first show I ever attended , the following week I did my first club night on a Thursday at the south London warlords eltham branch.

Just trying to fight through the mists of time to find the date for a project I'm doing.
If anyone has any photos from back then would be great to o see as well

As far as I can see, the show was held at kensington town hall rather than Greenwich.
At that time, it would have been Salute 1980

The Eltham branch split from the south London warlords in 1985 to become SELWG.

There are numerous blogs/forums from both camps online, I'm sure someone will be able to give you full dates/info if you register or mail them.

Wasn't SELWG based at Lewisham? At least it was in the late 80's early 90's unless that was another show?

You're right there I believe.

Selwg had their first show in 85 in Lewisham after the split from the warlords, SLW stayed at Kensington for their shows until the late 90's.

Cool thanks, I have fond memories of Salute at Kensington town hall and then later at Olympia 2. The thing I liked about Kensiginton was all the little rooms and you were never sure what you was going to find in each room. The same for old SELWG actually

Sorry you are all very wrong Selwg was always an independent club and did not form after a split from the warlords and had been around probably just about as long as the warlords.

I know this as I was a warlord member at the eltham branch and remember the split very well, we separated to become the Old Guard who still exist in sidcup today.

Warlord shows were always at Kensington before moving to Excel and Selwgs shows were Greenwich followed by lewisham for awhile then to crystal palace.

I stand corrected, I'd always thought it was the case and wrongly assumed, from this page and some blogs that it was so.
