Paint jars to droppers
« on: March 05, 2021, 05:53:52 PM »
I bought 250 dropper bottles from AliExpress and changed over my Foundry and some GW pots to precise dropper bottles. I added a stone bead to each bottle and thinned with distilled water to make them flow. It took a week but well worth it. It also helped me claim more rack real estate. I used to hold 9 bottles per row but with the droppers it went to 12. I’m super happy, especially because I was able to transfer the labels as well!

That's impressive. I am curious how you were able to salvage the labels.

The GW labels peel right off. They are only slightly adhesive and you can put them on your new droppers

As Pixelgeek noted, the GW, and also the Foundry, labels all peel off pretty easy. The GW ones are plastic so they peel much easier, but with some care and gentle persuasion the paper labels as you can see can also be removed and put on new bottles. For me it was not merely an aesthetic choice that the new containers look more 'professional' but that they are actually easier to read with the original one on. That said, the company label was much easier to deal with than the specific paint name and number circles, these have much worse glue and even when on their original bottles tended to fall off and get lost. So as you can see there are a few instances where I was forced to create a new label or even use clear tape to secure the old ones. Overall a small price for the bigger convenience!

It was a week long job, but for the 35-40 bucks in materials, well well worth the effort!

That is a great idea and one I might well follow.  How did you ensure there was no spillage when transferring the paint from the wide-mouthed Foundry bottles to the quite narrow dropper bottles?

As I recently mentioned in another thread the easiest and best way to dispense Citadel paint is with Dr Tabletop’s Droptops. These fit onto the original pot so no transfer of paint to another container is required and the wastage is consequently minimal.

I added a little distilled water then used a small funnel after mixing the paint. Worked great and lost nothing
