(Kickstarter) Pixels - Electronic Dice

I just stumbled across this Kickstarter for fancy electronic dice. Since there are so many kickstarters out there it is easy to overlook one and I thought this might be of interest to some of you.

My wife and I like interesting dice but this is likely beyond our budget.

They look cool, but not $200 for a set of dice cool. But what do I know as they have over $2,000,000 pledged!!!!

Just makes me, once again, realize that I'm not the target audience for...a lot of things.

Considering the price, that I do not own an IPhone (or Android, or other kind of fancy phone), that I do not use Roll20 (or play games on a computer), or play D&D (my Games tend to rely on buckets of dice).... I do not think I am among the target audience either Elbows.

I do find the technology interesting but more bells and whistles than what me or my wife want/need.

If we played D&D a single fancy d20 would be cool and we might pledge for that.

But for them to have over 2 million dollars in pledges already, quite a fewfolks must be in their target audience.

With groups running role-playing campaigns online in these pandemic times, I can sort of see a use for them there; it feels nicer than rolling dice on some website... but then, a cheap webcam above your dice tray will do the same thing more flexibly.

Other than that, yeah, dice rolling doesn't feel like the thing I need or even want technology incorporated into. At best, it adds little (can't say I much like the look of these), at worst, it breaks and you're left with a very expensive set of dice.
