Something to remember when "applying" the Caunter scheme to your models.  All vehicles in N Africa initially had the scheme applied in workshops, to a precise pattern.  Thus, each type of vehicle, and certainly each particular type of vehicle painted in a particular workshop (which would have tended to cover all the vehicles of that type within a regiment), would have looked identical.

I agree that many of the early Warlord models are not great and there are better models out there AND at a comparable price.  What are people's thoughts about the 1/56 Blitzkrieg Models, as sold by the Perrys to go with their North Africa range?

While I wait on my Caunter colours to arrive, I've been working on the vehicle commander from AB Figures.

When I purchased them I was a little worried about the quality as despite reading good things about the AB range, the images of the figures on the web were not very flattering, however once they arrived all concerns dropped by the wayside. They are amazing figures for the scale.

Well the Vallejo Caunter paint set arrived on Friday so I've spent all weekend spraying and masking. The A10 is not quite finished as I want to add some stowage and base, but otherwise there.

1/72 IBG kit with a little bit of embellishment and an AB figures tank commander.

Absolutely wonderful painting.  If I hadn't seen the title I would have taken it for a 1/35th scale model.  :-* :-* :-*

That has turned out splendidly! Great work.

What is the black ring hanging on the back of the turret?

I think it's a spare "tyre" for the small wheels - I don't think it's a lifebelt (which was the first thing that sprang to mind!), given the theatre!

Ta, I did wonder if it was a tyre, but it looks quite large for that - but could be for one of the bigger wheels. Can’t have helped with field maintenance having 3 or 4 different sized roller wheels as well as the rear drive sprocket.

Cheers all for the kind words. I must admit as to being pleased at how this turned out.

Yep it's meant to be a spare tyre for the larger of the road wheels. I saw a video from Bovington the mentioned the larger wheels really helped with cross country performance, but as you say must have been a pain from a maintenance perspective.

The IBG A9 is up next, again in the Caunter scheme

Do you have a link to the Vallejo Caunter paint set? The colours look really good, and I’ve previously done some matching, but haven’t managed to get them all to match
