New WWII rules from Anschluss Press

The War on the Ground
A look at some new Battalion Level WWII rules by Anschluss Press.

I took the new rules for a spin on a 4' x 3' table using 10mm figures and enjoyed the game.

I have put some observations and photos up on the blog, with turn 1 being exploded to give a good idea of mechanics and play.

Norm, that's a great-looking play-test setup there.

My brief impression from looking over the media for the rules, was it reminded me of types from decades past.  When I got to the mentioning of spotting rolls, I decided these wouldn't work for my game group and the afternoon sessions we're accustomed to (not to say these wouldn't be attractive for others - maybe who have more 'sit-down' time).

Thanks for the write-up Norm

I think I saw the same advert as you, and watched the start of one of the videos - which rather put me off. The rather dull gaming table in the video (yours is much better looking) and the string of spotting rolls. While I like the idea of enemy units being hard to see, having to track which one of 4 Shermans has spotted any given enemy seems very impractical. And from your write-up then having to track optics and track damage, etc. Seems to fussy, and too specific. If does feel very old school

I notice this week Victrix are promoting O Group rules with their figures.
