For me and my wife the increase in multi-part plastic kits from companies like Victix, the Perry’s, Fireforge, Gripping Beast, Northstar, Wargames Atlantic has been amazing as they tap increasingly into non-traditional genres making them perfect for narrative wargaming and role playing games.

So when I first saw Wargames Atlantic was going to do Napoleonic civilians I was excited, but then I quickly figured out it was an April Fools joke (like the painting joke from Warlord Games). This was disappointing and I expressed that as feedback to Wargames Atlantic.

What has really surprised me however is how many folks have felt the same.

Fairly generic Multi-Genre/period/location civilians..... what do you think about the market viability of such a set?

They might be viable if useable as a rioting mob for say French Revolution.

It seems perfectly reasonable that WA might bring out a set like this so I don’t see the joke. My idea of an April Fool world be something more ludicrous.

I would love a kit like this - generic civilians can be used for so many things - even napoleonics can be used for warhammer fantasy and the kitbashing potential of non military kits is always great.

If their dress doesn't tie them to much to a single period, I would be all over it. I actually am building quite a collection of peasants and assorted townsfolk for my games. There just are so many options to pursue there and I would just love to see easy to modify plastic ones. I already have more than enough barmaids for instance, but just normal peasants are always welcome.

Depending on what period/location you need the Fireforge Folk Rabble are a decent generic villager/peasant multi-part plastic set.

Using bits from it with say Gripping Beast unarmored Dark Ages or Arab sets allows some more utility.

In 20mm Strelets added some into their Prussian Cavalry packs as a replacement for their normal bonus Strelstsi

I'm hoping they will do more of the same for this and other periods

Always great to know where there are more civilians of any period.

Multi-part plastic kits of civilians would be kitbashing conversion gold.

Would be rather an interesting marketing strategy now that I think about it: announce a somewhat strange kit as a joke, see what the response is, and if many people express a genuine interest in the set: make it anyway!

I really like the joke. Very funny.
But would like to see a package of civilians.
Would be great to have.
Been thinking of purchasing a box of French resistance fighters from them.
I wonder how many I could make without guns?

It would seem there is quite the demand for multi-part plastic kit civilians
