Plaster for the win!  :D

The house (or what's left of it) looks pretty good already.

Will you be adding floors and other detailing, or will you forego that because of the sheer volume of ruins you're going for?
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Will be adding some floors but most of the floor will be covered in rubble

Having seen this first hand, I can safely say it looks even better in real life. Once you have all your different rubbles you've been collecting on there, thats going to look very realistic Colin!

Ah Linka... I had a vast number of those moulds. God knows what happened to them. Long gone...

Thanks for helping me relive childhood memories, Colin  :D

Fascinated to see how this turns out :)

Thanks Guys
I too am facinated to see how it turns out :D
This is a very basic set I have there are only about 10 molds
4 for stone and 3 for bricks and a couple for roof tiles
So a lot of the time I have to cut casts to get the shapes I want.
I could also do with investigating a stronger plaster I am just using what I had.
I have been told dental plaster works better. Maybe for the next build.

I have been told dental plaster works better. Maybe for the next build.

It's what I always use (including now), and it dries hard as rock. I once dropped a cast rock facing that was dried thoroughly, and it actually left a small dent in the laminate floor!

It's obviously not as easy to cut or break as regular plaster, but I tend to use a Tamiya hobby saw for that, and it works a treat. Only straight, outside cuts, of course.

One tip; when you need to cut or break the stuff, do it a few hours after casting. It'll be hard and dry  on the outside, but the inside will still be soft, so it's a lot easier to manipulate still...

What plaster are you using?

It's a dental plaster I sourced from a Dutch hobby materials chain called Pipoos. It's aimed at middle aged women taking up crafts like card making, clay sculpting, flower arranging; you know...

But apparently, also plaster casting!

I've added a picture of the bags I get there, but I doubt it's going to help you along much.

The Netherlands are not Royston Vasey but still, I guess 'this is a local shop, for local people'... lol

Still going with this build, even though I dropped the last house I pictured, it is now a real ruin

The other two bases are still going

Still to add more rubble and a fallen roof
The other base

These are looking very good so far. And the details will make it also inevitably rather sad.  Seeing someone's wardrobe lying in the street next to what is left of their home is a rather melancholy sight.

Rubble is building up nicely  8)

The dropped house might still serve as rubble on other bases perhaps?
