A Post Apocalyptic Campaign Build
« on: April 11, 2021, 07:14:22 AM »
Recently got back into tabletop gaming and I need to put together some terrain for future games. So I decided to post my progress pictures as I get things completed.

I am starting with a basic scatter ruins set. My goal was to make something that provided some cover running across open fields. I also tried to make them slightly playable so they weren't just scenery pieces.

I started by cutting out a base then stacking bits of cork and foam board.

and some more

I tried to get the concrete slabs as flat as possible so miniatures can stand on them. I then put some PVA glue down followed by some sand and rocks. I also squeezed in a few balsa wood and corrugated plastic bits as well.

I didn't take any progression photos of the toxic pool but I followed the same techniques building up a round foundation. I filled it with some hot glue and threw a paper barrel drum in the center. I'll eventually get some resin in there after I paint it.

This is going to be a 6-8 piece set depending on how long I can stay motivated.
I also have a few road pieces I'm working on in addition to this set and should have some wip shots of those soon. More to come.

I will be very curious to see how the foam and cork look together.

Thank you! Glad to see you're still at it!

Looking rather splendid so far 👍🏼

Cheers!

Apologies for my messy table but I started on a two new pieces using some new methods and materials (for me).  Sadly nothing is painted yet =P

Barricade
I tried to come up with my own style of making fences or barricades for light to heavy cover scatter options. However, those earlier test pieces were using up too much plasticard and taking way too long to set up in my opinion. So I started to look at some simpler designs to save me on time and money. I found this photo and thought this was the move.

I have a little more fine detailing to do on this piece but it is coming close to being ready for paint.

Trailer
I have never really attempted anything like this before and I was a little nervous to see how it was going to come out. I decided to make a quick stencil after looking at some reference photos of some train models for dimensions. I really adore how its looking and if it comes out decent enough, I wouldn't mind making a few more of these.

I will be very curious to see how the foam and cork look together.

I have some older scatter already painted. I love these pieces but I hope these new ones will be a little more durable. You can kind of see the cork chipping and I might just throw these older ones on a new mdf base (I had a hard time getting these boards consistently in the past).

Old Method (cork and foam painted)

Enjoyed the highly rusted, tipped over barrels. That's code for "I want to do that!"

It's been a while (life) but I have a few smaller updates.

First up we have a militaristic survivor. I printed off some of these heads and swapped one on this Kev White sculpt. I'm in love with the look of ballistic masks.

Next we have some great crooked dice figures I picked up during a kickstarter I backed a few years ago.
I wasn't super interested in the newer ones they were releasing at the time, but the pledge manager was great and allowed me to pick most (if not all) things from their stock. So I chose a few I thought I could use.

Up last is a wooden building I've been working on. Haven't decided if it is the exact style I was trying to capture, but it is was a good test piece to try some techniques out on.

Thanks for looking and I appreciate all the comments =]
